Why do some people choose their baby names based on what nickname they can make of the name. I thought nicknames were supposed to just happen naturally. I have a nickname for my son but it has nothing to do with his name. Just wondering what the deal with this is. Thanks.

i had an ultrasound at 20 weeks and they said it was a little boy...however, twins run in my family and i want to know what are the chances that the doctor only detected one heart beat, and if one kid could be "hiding"? Does anyone know how common this is? Has this ever happened to anyone? I would also like to ask if anyone knows how often the ultrasounds are incorrect regarding the sex of the child. Thanks!

I had a period on December 29th-30th. I was supposed to start again on Jan. 26th and missed. I was on Yaz birth control. Thinking maybe I was pregnant, I stopped taking the pill. I still have not started. I got negative on home test and on blood test. Now I am kinda wanting to get pregnant. Could I still be pregnant? When would I ovulate again?

My friend just found out that her unborn child have a severe heart defect and would require 3 open heart surgery. 1st surgery has to be done right away, 2nd at 6 mos and last one before 2 yrs old. She is 23 wks gestation. She is contemplating termination just becuase she doesn't want the child to go through all that surgery and it's not even gauaranteed that the child will make it past any of the 3 surgeries plus there would be life long difficulties and possibilities of complications etc etc medications. She is a person that does not beleive in abortion but because she's in this situation, she is thinking about it. She has not made a decision yet.
Is it cruel of her to even think about terminating?

Just wondering because it's been going on all day, and it's starting to get uncomfortable. I don't know if its because maybe I ate something bad, or something. But, I don't feel sick or anything.

It is a fight every morning for my 5 year old to eat breakfast. We have even tried to let her only eat half of whatever she was eating and she still does not want to eat anything for breakfast. Should I just let her go to school once to show her she is going to get hungry.. or should we keep forcing her to eat something. She only goes half a day to Kindergarten and they do have snacks every day. I would just feel bad sending her to school without any breakfast :( She has a very healthy appetite.. and will eat lunch when she gets home. Any advice would be apprecitated :)

you know,here in where i come from,fathers abandon their duties and the law can't do much about it.children at the age of 14 do with themselves whatever they they please and its only when something as serious as the child being raped hapens,is when the law shows a bit of concern.

hi, well i am just wondering what to do. well, me and my boyfriend (not now, im only 15, but when im 26) wanna have 4 babies, 2 girls, and 2 boys, then when they are teens, adopt 2 more. so, we have decided on the boys decoration as winnie the pooh. but, the girls we're not sure about ?? any ideas ?? we were thinking either monkies, disney princesses, care bears, etc oor, we thought about giving the boys teddy bears and sports or something and the girls winnie the pooh ?? plz help, k thanks =]

How can I manage to go back to work after the birth of my baby? I cant afford NOT to work as mine and my partners wages are just covering our expenses comfortably but child care seems to cost a fortune.. Any ideas??

My period was 10 days late and on the 9th day late, I took a preg. test. It came out neg. and well just 2 days ago I started my period, and it started out with some pretty bad cramps, and it started, but, its not heavy, and I've had very little blood clots, which is normal for me to have a little issue with that. I'm thinking after this period is done, and if it doesn't start to get heavy, that I'll take a pregnancy test. Should I?

I think my daught needs special attention. She is always leaving books in school, or not copying her homework right. I tried taking tv from her, scaring her with threats of a beating, nothing seems to work. I am ready to give up. If she keeps this up she will repeat the grade over again. I don't even think she pays attention in school because she get home and does her homework she acts like she doesn't understand it and it winds up taking her all night.

I'm 23,a father of a beautiful 5-year-old girl.When I was 16,my friends and I got a bit drunk in a disco late at night and caught a girl age 14 and I raped her.Nobody understood and she didn't abort the baby.When the baby(girl) was born,one of my friends found out and kidnapped it.The raped girl didn't announce in the police cause she was going to give the baby for adoption anyway.Since then my daughter lives with me and she is the person I love most in life and won't leave her for anything.Recently she is asking me about her mother and I'm confused and don't know how to answer.I have always been honest with her and can't lie to her but in that case...what can I tell her?She won't understand a rape and even if she does,she may think it is a good thing - because she loves me very much and we are like best friends rather then like a parent and a child and she may consider the daddy's action is the good one as she always considers.What should I do?

i went off birth control a year ago and i didnt tell my boyfriend. (he still thinks i am taking my shot) when we discussed kids he said he wanted to wait another year.... i really want to have another baby... My son is 2 (will be 3 in July) and he does this high pich scream all the time....OMG it get under my skin. He will do it for no reason at all and than again when he is excited. When I tell him...Shhhhh quite tone it just makes his scream louder. How do I control this if at all. i also have a daughter but she ever did this.
Any ideas? Anyone dealing with this.

I have a question about the pill provera....its the pill that helps to induce your menstrual cycle.
Okay so if u take it for 10 days and get your period....2 weeks after that period will i ovulate...or better yet COULD I ovulate???]
SInce Its not really my TRUE period....and its a pill to trick my system into thinkin that it is....will I have to wait to ovulate until my "true" period comes on its own????


Please help.....I am trying to conceive and my cycle is going crazy on me.....I have been consistent every month for 3 years then all of a sudden I skip a month???? I am NOT pregnant I already went to the doc....HELP!

i am 31 weeks pregnant... I had to go get a ultrasound today because i have been having a lot of pain constantly on my right side. Well i was looking @ the screen and as she was looking @ my organs and everything there is a whole bunch of like red and blue lights and stuff in certain spots on the screen. 4 months ago, I got off birth control. I was on BC for 7 years. My husband and I have been ttc (trying to conceive) since then. I'm a little worried cause I have cysts on my ovaries. In both March '06 and June '06 I had them rupture and went to the ER. My periods have been normal since off BC, but I'm still worried I will have a tough time conceiving. I asked my doctor and he said it's hard to say, and only time will tell. What do you think...just looking for a little advice (and comfort).
