When I was in basic training the gay guys got the ol' "blanket party" in the middle of the night. It was pretty brutal. Why would a gay guy wanna take the chance of getting beat up on a constant basis just because he doesn't fit into civilian life? Gays don't bother me, but most dudes get freaked out by that stuff. No heterosexual man would defend a gay from a gang of angry homophobes.

My son is interested in joining ther Navy but has three juvenile misdeamenors. 2 when he was 15 and one when he was 17. He is now 19 and wants to join the navy. I never had the records expunged because I didn't think it would make a difference in a government back ground check. How should I proceed? SHould I request the records be expunged? WIll they still have access to the records? Thank you to anyone who can offer advice.

"War On Terror: Coalition forces captured the Taliban's biggest stronghold on Tuesday in a major military victory. Funny, isn't it, how the good guys winning doesn't make banner front-page headlines?
Musa Qala was the only town in the strategically vital Helmand province under Taliban control. The enemy had seized it in February after the collapse of a local truce between the British military and Afghan elders. But this week Afghan and NATO-led troops changed that by killing, wounding or capturing hundreds of Taliban fighters, including several commanders, in retaking the town."

Were soldiers in the Civil War ever discharged from duty because of an injury and sent back home?

If so, what sort of injury could a man have sustained back then that was bad enough to not be able to fight anymore but would not have instantly killed them?

My husband is US Army, and we're flying home to the U.S. from Germany for leave. I asked a question awhile ago in a different category, and haven't gotten any answers, so I figured I'd try my luck here.

Anyway, my question is, what can we expect, in going through customs? Will it take a long time? Or will they just glance at my husband's leave papers and military ID, and my passport, and wave us through? Will we get asked a hundred questions? How will this work?

This is our first visit home since we've been here, obviously. A little nervous about it.

Any information would be helpful.

I'm looking to enlist in the military (Marines), and I'm rather physically and mentally fit for it.

The only thing that crossed my mind is the fact that I have complete heterochromia (one eye is brown, the other is a weird grayish-blue color).

While I'm pretty sure this is far from enough for a DQ, I also know it's going to be something that will be noticed right away during the physical. I'd just like to know what sort of question would be asked or if anything else (and what) would be checked because of it.

if it was officially a declared war, it would have meant that Congress declared it war. the President only has the power to send and command the troops wherever he wants, he doesnt have the power to offically declare war.

Our Pentagon supported our beloved troops in 2007 in this manner.
1. Required that all soldiers discharged early because of battlefield injuries repay their enlistment bonuses.
2. Sent the longest serving National Guard unit home after 729 days of combat in Iraq- one day shy of the 730 day that soldiers needed to qualify for education benifits.
3. Omitted 20K cases of brain trauma from official tally of troops injured in Iraq.
4. Denied medical benefits to 22K veterans suffering from post-traumtic stress by discharging them for having enlisted with pre existing personality disorders.
Shame on us. Shame on the U.S. Government.
