So I just moved from VA to WA while my husband is overseas. We have removed the apartment we were living in from allotments and my husband says he has done all the paperwork needed to start recieving the full amount into our account. I have the number to contact the Navy housing office in Norfolk and I will contact them on Monday. We paid the apartments for the month of November and I thought we would get the money around the 1st or 15th of this month. Just wanted to know what could be going on and if it is normal for it to be a month or two late (hope not!).

I know I want to join the service, and I am sure it is the National Guard either, Army or Air. I want to go to college first and then serve, and I know I can get this in the Army National Guard, but can you have this option in the Air National.

I also want to know if the Air Force Reserves offers a college option first and then service.

Are there any jobs in the military that don't require training like they do for the infantry and don't require moving around frequently?

I'm thinking about the army as a job but I want to be able to be in a regular career where I can still live at home with my children. I was thinking maybe being a cook in the army like my uncle was.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Also, what is the pay like?

The man is a bona fide Canadian hero, and was awarded the first-ever Star of Military Valour. http://www.army.forces.gc.ca/lfwa/valour_tower.htm

I'm very happy Canadian Forces recognized him, but why deny him the honor of becoming the first Canadian awarded the VC since WWII?

The New Zealanders recently awarded their first VC in over half a century for an act which, though courageous and worthy of the honor, was no more so than that of Sgt. Tower. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/1/story.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10482443

Is this simply another instance of Canada trying to downplay its Commonwealth roots and establish itself as more "independent"? If so, I think it's misguided in the extreme.
