I know I want to join the service, and I am sure it is the National Guard either, Army or Air. I want to go to college first and then serve, and I know I can get this in the Army National Guard, but can you have this option in the Air National.

I also want to know if the Air Force Reserves offers a college option first and then service.

Yes, its called Air Force ROTC.

You get a scholarship and then serve your commitment as an officer. When you apply for the AFROTC scholarship, only apply for the Air National Guard Scholarship, not the federal scholarship.

Air Force Reserves is a federal scholarship, if you take a federal scholarship, they decide if you go active or reserve.

Do the Army Reserve Split Option instead or wait until you are a Senior and go Active Duty if you want to be a linguist. The College First option only allows the first two years, and if you get hurt, you pick up the cost of the college. There is not an option for being a linguist in the College First or Split Option program. Your training can not exceed 6 months. DLI is at least 6 months, up to 2 years for language school.

Neither the Air Guard or the Air Force Reserve have this option. I have been in both. The only reason the Army does it is because they have trouble with recruiting and retention.

I don't understand why you would need that option. Just don't enlist until after college.
