1). Alsace and Lorraine. Germany took the regions after the Franco-Prussian War, lost them in the Treaty of Versailles, and then absorbed them into the Third Reich after the fall of France. France reclaimed Alsace and Lorraine after the end of the Second World War.

2). French who worked for the German occupation were known as collaborators. The resistance was called the maquis.

3). General Henri Petain who the head of the puppet Vichy government, with Pierre Laval as president. Laval was hanged for treason after the war, while Petain was pardoned due to his prior service to France and his old age.

Okay one of the regions was ther Alsace-Lorraine, can't remember the other one if I ever knew in the first place. The term used to refer to French who did not resist the Nazis was 'Collaberators'. The leader to set up the puppet government was Marshall Petain of WWI fame.

I'm guessing one of the regions is the Rhineland and the term is Vichy France (not sure on the spelling) and the french leader might be Charles degalle, i think the firs name right but not second.
