The Coast Guard has very high standards and never has a shortage of recruits. The minimum educational requirement is a GED, although your options will be very very limited and would not make you an ideal candidate. Your best bet would be entering with at least 30 college credits, but the more the better.

GPA can be important too. You'll need at least a 2.5 college GPA with a bachelor's degree if you'd like to be an officer. If that's not the route you're going, you should still hopefully have a C+/B- average to get decent credit for your academics.

A lot of the variables will depend on what job you're going for, where it is, and what's needed.

Physical requirements have too many variables to type out, so I included the link below to has height/weight/body fat info.

Another important consideration is medical history. You have to be healthy and your medical history is important too. This has a lot of factors, obviously, but it you're healthy and have never been treated extensively for anything, you should be ok.

If you want to go to the Academy, you should have an application package suitable to make you competitive for an ivy league school.

You have to be at least six feet tall to enter the Coast Guard. That way if the ship sinks, you can wade to shore.

Just kidding, coasties.
