The active duty regulation says nothing about getting new tattoos, and as long as they are in good taste and not racist, sexist or extreamist it is ok. If you get a questionable one your unit can have you get it removed or discharge you. You don't have to tell anyone that you are getting one, or do anything after. You can get it approved by your chain of command if you want to...but again you don't have to as long as the tat is in regs.

If the guard has a policy against toos; even though you want one bad. Do your time in the guard, then get your 'too'. That would be what I would call 'being a real man'.

I'd go with what Michael said---check it out before doing it.
Nothing wrong with tats' at all--husband's got a large one on his back since he came back from his deployment---Fallen Soldier, variety that a friend drew up.

Check into it before so you're not getting into any kind of trouble.

I remember the good old days when only drunken sailors and Marines got tattoos.

You guy's need to get off of MTV.

as long as the tattoo is within regulations you will have no problems, you dont have to tell anyone about it, unless you want to show it off.

the best thing to do is either check with your recruiter or the unit you will be assigned to (if you know who it will be).
