My recruiter told me alot about the air force and the benefits you receive, and he mentioned there were many others that he did not have time to include. Can anyone give me a nice rundown of what is available in the air force? what about retirement if i stay long enough? Thanks

All of the branches of the military offer the same basic perks per say. The Air Force is best known for treating their people the best. Each branch has the same retirement set at 20 years of service. At 20 years you can get 50% of your base pay depending on your pay grade. Other perks are better food at the chow hall (mess hall/ defac). You also have better living standards then the Army and Marines and Navy. If I were you I'd join the Air Force. We treat our people better and we kick *** every day out in the field.

If you are considering joining the military. DEFINATLEY join the air force. They treat their people the best, plus all of the things that guy listed above. My husband is a marine and he wishes he would have joined the air force. The deployments are nice because you spend a month in germany preparing to deploy, four months flying back and forth depending on your job, and then a month breaking things down when your time is up. Trust me...join the air force! My brothers were in the air force and they tell me how easy it is all the time...I suppose it depends on your job though. They tell the mechanics what needs to be fixed on C-17s. One of them was deployed to Iraq to check IDs and stuff at check points...but he volunteered for that. Anyways, good luck.

Free air travel anywhere, sort of. The way it worked, was you could try to hitch a ride in a cargo plane going in your direction. So if there was a cargo plane going from New York to London, you could try and hitch a ride. You get a pension if you are there long enough. Some hook up with another government job such as the post office and get another pension. That way you could retire at 65 or so with two pensions.
