It was a BLUNDER that India became instrumental in dividing former Pakistan , having two wings, viz, East Pakistan and West Pakistan.
Anyway, that is history.
The after effect is that India now is flanked by two Islamic Countries.I know how Indians are disliked and hated by the Bangladeshis. We had created this situation ourselves by not having a good neighbourly relationship with a new born Country right from the beginning and the loyalists ( I mean, those had a great feeling of living together with the other part of Pakistan) , exploited the wrong foreign policy of India towards Bangladesh. India should have given sufficient advantage in terms of aids and other assistance so that Bangladesh would have had a liking for Indian gesture. In reality, India withdrew its troops prematurely from that territorry resulting into elimination of so called pro_Indian Leadership completely in no time .
Originally, Bangladesh was supposed to have a secular Constitution and the Conutry was in intially trying to do so under the leadership of secular ones backed by India to secede from Pakistan.
The SAARC hardly does the real work with the idea of which it was originally formed. This acts as a Forum of "India baiting".India, although big in size, never could build good neighbourly relationship with any country adjoining its borders.Indian neighbours are primarily "anti-Indians" in their outlook.
Any country maintains two sets of foreign policy......one for the Neighbouring Countries and the other for International Affairs. We never had a clear-cut Foreign Policy of "mature type" , which hardly keeps changing along with the change of Govt. inside the country anywhere else.

The war was actually started by India on 21 st Nov. 1971 when Indian army entered erstwhile East Pakistan & brought some of its tanks. The preparation of war was pre-planned well in 1966 much before so called Bengali problem there as Mukti Bahini, a terrorist organisation made & armed by India was existing even in Jan 1966(Dharmyug, Hndi weekly from Times of India group , Bombay, 5 May, 1990, article by the editor Dahrmveer Bharti that he sectretly visited Mukti bahini camp near Dhaka). Movements of troops to eastern side started from 1966 itself. USSR Air Force too participated in the war. Two of its pilots were captured by Pakistanis alive near Peshawar.
Most of the Mukti Bahini members were people of india .
