So here i was going through some articles on Military.com and found this article; currently the US military is issuing the M4 carbine assult rifle as the standard for all combat troops. I thought this was a step up for our troops until i saw this report. http://www.defensetech.org/
Now just a brief summary of this; the aberdeen test center conducted a series of test in a dust chamber, consisting of putting 6000 rounds down the barrel of 4 seperate assualt rifles to compare performance and reliability.
Here are the results
M4- 882 stoppages
H&K-416 233 total
FN Scar mk16-226 total
and the XM8 the winner with 127 total stoppages.
The military's response to this?

"The M4 carbine is a world-class weapon," said Brig. Gen. Mark Brown, the Army's top equipment buyer, in a Dec. 17 briefing at the Pentagon. Soldiers "have high confidence in that weapon, and that high confidence level is justified, in our view, as a result of all test data and all investigations we have made."

and you'd have to leave your 3 yr old and 1 yr old 6 hours away for 6 weeks with military friends or a nanny from the foreign country? Well that's what the military expects me to do, or I can pay for myself to go back to the US (between $4,000- $5,000) Or I can just have the baby all by myself. IS THIS SO WRONG? I'm not even in the military, I'm a military spouse. HOW CAN THEY NOT SUPPORT FAMILIES?

What about making the maximum age 65 in good health and not giving waivers just because you are an elected official? If your number comes up, you serve and the Governor of your state replaces you with someone else, even if you are a sitting U.S. Congressman or Senator. If you're the President, you are replaced by the next person in the line of succession. Reckon that would get them thinking real hard in Washington the next time that they want to get this country involved in an armed conflict (war)?

My best friend just started Army Basic Training at Fort Knox 6 weeks ago, and he just got home for the holidays. My question is what has helped some of you guys get through Basic Training? He came home a complete wreck, some of the stories that he told me were absolutely horrific..stories of guys getting beat till they cried themselves to sleep, men only be given food after digging their plate out of trash cans, being forced to a shooting test on no sleep out in the freezing rain (1 guy got hypothermia). They guys have no phone use, and he said that the only privilege they have is they get to eat in a dining hall once a week, the rest is field chow. He said they're fed like birds. He's dropped 15 pounds since he left (and he's a very lean guy to start with and is very weak. When he got home, he was running on 2 days no sleep, because the guys had to clean all night before they came home. He is absolutely terrified of going back. Does anyone have advice to help him get through Basic?

With all of the charges of cover ups and lies that seem to be leading to the White House regarding our reasons for Iraq, the tapes of the U.S. intelligence torturing individuals; do you think that if evidence supports those charges... we should considering putting them on trail in The Hague?

Inflamatory rhetoric, regardless of position is not welcome.

Well thought out and concise answers please.

I am in week 7 starting of a 19 week training course. There was false imformation on my asvab because they said my gt on math was 101 and i failed math the first time by missing nearly all of them. My recrueter got out on a mental discharge 2 weeks before i was sent in. While in I have had bad back problems sharp pain in my neck causeing the tissue to go numb and as well got sick in BCT with a 102.9 fever and a direct order from a CPT to sent me to CTMC the verry next morning. They didnt send me till I went back to the dentist and he asked me how my visit at the CTMC was. I said they never sent me I was sent in the field for BRM training instead. I have the order on me still and CTMC records can show i was never there the time ordered to be. The DS's say you can fill out a sick call slip but you wont get to go when you want to. I also am a father or a 2 yr old girld and husband. My family sat at home without a penny for 6 weeks of that time me telling the DS's and they D-reguarded.

I'm sorry if my question's not well put. But ok, I want to ask which should be displayed on the groom's Navy Dress Blues uniform for a wedding. All medals? All ribbons? Or both, since sometimes some awards don't have both a medal and a ribbon to represent them.

What are other standard regulations/rules for Navy uniform Dress Blues for a wedding?
