Yes you can. As soon as you get done with your AIT, come see me and I will get you released from your unit so you can go active duty. You might be able to pick your duty station as well.

This is how you do it man. Go back to your recruiter and tell him you would like to go active. He will give you two pieces of paper that you need to get signed by your commander. Then once those are signed take them back to your recruiter and they will process you just like the first time except you should not have to take the physical again. You will sit down with the guidance counselor at MEPS again then renogotiate your contract. As far as changing your job and getting airborne though is something that the guidance counselor will assist you with. You are going t have to wait until you are done with BT and AIT though.

Yes. After AIT, speak to a recruiter and your reserve unit. You must first receive permission from your unit. It shouldn't be a big deal. I started in the reserves. I finished AIT in Aug 87. By Sep 87, I decided I wanted to go active. I was active and stationed in Germany by the end of Nov 87.

Hi i am in the army active as well. When you get out of AIT you can request to go full active, but while in AIT you can also request to go airborne. Once you get that done you'll have no problem "comming over to the darkside!" lol I mean ACTIVE duty. Best of luck HOOAH!!

That is so easy. All you have to do is go talk to an active duty recruiter and he will do the paperwork for you, just tell him what you want. your going to have to sign up again for another 4 years. I was army natl guard for 14 months before i transfered active duty marine corps. So not only did i go active but i switched branches.

Talk to your Drill Sergeant, the sooner the better. These things change all the time and I am fairly certain that the Drills are kept up on it. And if they aren't sure they will know where to get the info and how to do it.

You will probably have to spend 6 months reserves because your state flipped the bill for you and they are not so willing to let you go.but it can happen talk to your chain of command when you get home.
