I keep seeing myself in a dusty town, I hear gunfire and explosions, and my son calling "Dad, get me out of here" but I can't find him anywhere. It has been 6 months since I lost my only son while he was doing his tour of duty in iraq. Any other soldier parents in my situation?

This is for DUFF

I came across these -- over 200 in all -- in a thrift store for two bucks. A little bitty oversight by the proprieters, I would say. The reference dates and handwritten descriptions on the cardboard margins indicate they are from Vietnam and Thailand during the War, apparently taken by a female civilian doing military-related work.

So, does anyone recognize themselves, their friends, or their relatives? I look forward to your replies.

I don't like to talk about "winning the war", because there really was no "war" to win. We went into a stable country, removed its stable government, and then all hell broke loose. For a long while, I would have said that we should cut our losses like we did in Vietnam in 1972. I would have said that there's nothing to be won here and that there's no way to win it. Things can be very bad with our participation or without our participation. Might as well be without it. But now, it really seems like things are changing, for reasons that are entirely unclear to me. Do you really think that the US military presence can return a stable government to Iraq? Or is this just a pipe dream? Can it really be done? Is it possible? If so, then let's stay and finish the job...

You are part of a nation that is fighting to survive against another nation that has invaded you, decimated your population and will soon subject you to a future of slavery.

If you keep up the fight the deaths might go into the millions. You have an opportunity to use an atom bomb. Is it right to use it? Does the end ever justify the means?

I'm just trying to be a father,
Raise a daughter and a son,
Be a lover to their mother,
Everything to everyone.
Up and at 'em bright and early,
I'm all business in my suit,
Yeah, I'm dressed for success from my head down to my boots,
I don't do it for money, there's still bills that I can't pay,
I don't do it for the glory, I just do it anyway,
Providing for our future's my responsibility,
Yeah I'm real good under pressure, being all that I can be,
And I can't call in sick on Mondays when the weekends been to strong,
I just work straight through the holidays,
And sometimes all night long.
You can bet that I stand ready when the wolf growls at the door,
Hey, I'm solid, hey I'm steady, hey I'm true down to the core,
And I will always do my duty, no matter what the price,
I've counted up the cost, I know the sacrafice,
Oh, and I don't want to die for you,
But if dyin's asked of me,
I'll bear that cross with an honor,
'Cause freedom don't come free.
I'm an american so

This question has already been asked, but I would like to get some more responses for myself. If you have served and have been involved in a war, I would highly value your comment. If you know of anyone who has been involved in a war, would you ask them the same question and let me know? I thank you and appreciate your comments.

I have not signed mt contract yet, but I will more than likely go to MH-60 or MH-47 mos 15. If anyone can shed any more light on those MOS's I'd appreciate it. And if anybody knows weather I can get a contract to join the 160 SOAR before I leave for the Warrior Transition Course that'd be great too. Thanks everyone.

my husband is kicking me ot thecurb.
When he returns from IRAQ we are getting a divorce.
Apparently he fell out of love with me - and in love with someone else.

I cant prove adultery, but either way...he says he wants out of our marriage.

I have a kid, quit my jobs for him, and am currently a stay at home mother.

We have about $16,000 total in the bank account. $12000 is his reenlistment bonus.

Is half of it mine?

Or am I basically going to get tossed with nothing
while he enjoys everything.

We live in Georgia and have been married for 6 years and have 1 child, if that matters.
And Ive quit 2 jobs so far following him and to take care of our baby.

He says I cant touch his money...
but then I will be left with absolutely nothing to start anew and take care of our child.

Is he right?
