No. I think the main reason is part of the Geneva convention rules covering the military.
1. Fighters must display their weapons (carry them out in the open).
2. Some types of bullets such as hollow points are not allowed. This helps prevent hollow points being used by U.S. soldiers.
3. The uniform must be seen at a distance. Since camouflage will hide the person, I'm thinking the rifle is considered part of the uniform hence why the M-16 and M-14 are black rather than the same color as the clothes. Black actually stands out hence you can see a M-16 at a distance even if you can't really see the person.

Depends on the service, the unit and the weapons. Some units will approve them on a case by case basis but you must use military issued ammo so pistols would be 9mm or .45 is possible and the rifles would have to be 5.56mm or 7.62. If it is 7.62 the accuracy will suffer because most of the 7.62mm ammo available is manufactured for the machine gun and it is not as good as that ammo produced for rifles. Talk to your unit and see if they allow it-as I said some will and some won't. You will have to check it into the armory going to and coming back so it is listed on a manifest which would get it back into the country.

I wish. Unfortunately with the assault weapons ban, you will not be able to bring your minigun with to mow down lines of Taliban forces. You'll be supplied with some of the most sophisticated weapons on Earth, so why even bother? You can probably equip what you want if you're the right rank. But then again, I'm not in the military, so I wouldn't know. But give it a try! :D

If you are asking if soldiers can take their own weapons to war, the answer is "no". The military regulates (and inspects) the items taken to active duty. Soldiers take the weapons issued to them.

I don't know why you would want or need to, since the Army would supply you with one or more weapons anyway.

Some units will let you, depending on your standing with the unit and your rank. Obviously if you are a private, they probably aren't going to let you.

it depends, what weapons do you have? if you have a tank or something that would be difficult to bring. Probably yes though...
