Each branch of the military has their own system that manages their personal information such as forms, medical status, email, etc. On their website, a military member can search "white pages" members in the same branch as them. It will give you general information such as their unit, rank, occupational specialty, location, phone number, etc. I know that Army makes sure everyone is in ours. The only thing is that you'd need another service member to search for you, for the person you are looking for. This won't tell you if the person is deployed or not though. But if you go to www.estripes.com and type in the name of his unit, it should tell you if that unit is delpoyed or not by new stories etc. You can even try searchnig for his name if there has bee any stories reported about him.
Good luck!

If you are a FAMILY member you can sometimes get limited information from the base in which they are stationed, but IF you are not they will not tell you...I guess you need to ask the person you are curious about directly....

If there is a problem then I would think the Red Cross. But you may need to know the Unit.

You may need a good reason to try to contact this person. You can try the Red Cross, the American legion, the VFW.

No. Not legally. The names, stations, and other pertinent info on soldiers is kept confidential. This is for National Security and for the soldier's security. Sorry.

Why would you doubt someone? If they have given you cause to doubt their word, then why bother!
