Kadena or Yokota??? Advice??!?

We're about to PCS and my dad can choose either kadena or yokota. I'm a junior and will be a senior next year, but my sister is a freshmen.. so which place is better? high school wise? and also community wise?

Any advice on either kadena or yokota would be nice!!!! what did you like there? which place is better?

if you are into Big city life: Yokota. if you like HOT humid weather and Tai-fun: Kadena.

Yokota is in close proximity to Yokosuka Naval Base as well as Camp Zama and Torii station. between Tokyo and Yokohama, you will have a LOT to do culturally, shopping and playing wise.

If you get island fever, Kadena is not a good option. At least on the main Island you have more places to get away to via shinkansen or local trains.

Yokota is on the Japanese mainland. Kadena is on Okinawa, an island. Given a choice, I would definitely take Yokota.

Kadena is claustrophobic. The island at its widest is about 35 miles and maybe 90 miles long. The island speed used to be 35mph or its equivalent. Definitely go to Yoko ta for the High School cultural experience, the social experience and overall more Americanized. I do not think you will regret it.

Having been to both places as a dependent and a GI I would have to say, Yokota. The reason is simply that you have better access to public transportation (trains). Okinawa has buses but they're just not as good.

Sadly, even tho it has been about 25 yrs since I left. I hated them both. Yokosuka is best, but if you only have those 2, go with Kadena.
