Military - October 2007

So if they ever get divorce there will be no question about them wanting half of theur spouses retirement. I'm tired of them complaining about they gave up this and that saying how much they sacrificed following their mates while they served the military and they want half. Have the military member stay home for 1 tour and send his/her spouse. My Hats off to the Men and Women in uniform. Keep up the good work

If it was in your hands to stop the war, what would you to stop it or how would you stop it?

ok my first question is what would give me an advantage in getting an NROTC schlorship,(im 16 working on myt eagle scout, a little above average grades, i would play sportds but my school dosen have any till next year?) What do you do during NROTC? and if i wanted to major in enginnering in college and have a career in that field in the navy, but on the official nrotc website the careers are surface,submarine,aviation,and special warfare officer jobs what do i do?

I know there are many reasons why our countries go to war but I find the politics of it all really hard to understand. I have looked on the internet at different sites that discuss the current war in Iraq but I find it so complicated. It was always my understanding that in the current War, we sent our troops to war so that they can intervene and stop one side in a country from attacking the other side (i.e. Sadam mistreating his people etc.). Isn't the real reason why we get involved in the conflicts in one country due to the oil and money? I once read that if one of the dictators got complete control over it they would make the price of oil mega expensive. Sorry if I sound really dumb, I would just like to know people thoughts, in a nutshell if possible as I don't understand it and feel I never will. Any links to websites that contain easy to understand info would be great. Thanks

I think I might have sprain or torn my MCL. Im on leave, will I be able to go to a VA Hospital to get treatment or do I have to wait until I report again, it hurts bad to walk, all I have is some pain killers, flexall and a knee brace, i need a professional to look at it!!!

hi there. Thanks for reading. My husband is being deployed for the first time. I am so scared for his life. He is in the AF by the way. Due to OPSEC i cant say where and when but its going to be for a while that he will be gone. a few months. It scares me. I hope this is normal to worry for his life. He seems so calm about it. I however am not. I have so many bad thoughts running through my head. I try not to dwell but if you personally have not been through then you don't and wont understand. I worry he would leave me or be hurt or killed and it scares me so much. I just want him to hurry leave do what he has to do and get back safely. We are based in germany by the way. AGH im just so scared. any military wives have any insight advice anything? i suffer from SEVERE depression and social anxity so its going to be so hard for me to get a job while hes a way. I wish i could explain but its hard. anyways thanks in adveance for helping me it's truly appreciated

my question is how does it work?
we have 5 &1/2 months left on our lease,plus he gets BAH and COLA for me and my daughter.
Do they take that away?Do they give the wife anything?Like not trying to be greedy just wondering?or it desnt matter?
he still has till 2011,so what happens?
i just want what i have in the closet he can keep everything.does that help?

I see these videos on the net or recruits recording their experiences in basic training and I'm wondering how they did that. I mean would the DI sorta kill you if you pull out a camera while he's teaching?

Why are there people out there who are so ignorant towards the military and what we do. Yes...I am in the military and I'm proud of what I do. Why hate on the personnel who are giving you the freedom to do what you do in your everyday life. Yes, we in the military did raise our right hand to serve our country but it should not give you the to hate on us. I see a lot of questions that are posted mostly from girls asking advice on, "what should I do...my man is in the middle east, should I still be with him?" Some of the answers I've read are really dumb...why encourage someone to break up with their loved ones who are saving you the time...support them...Sometimes, I wish they would bring the draft back just to see some of you haters be crying to your parents!

My friend got an ELS discharge (during basic training) and is going into the holding on Tuesday. How long will his outprocessing take? His unit graduated almost 2 weeks ago and he's been waiting for his papers to go into the holding for his outprocessing. They told him it would take a few days but really can you believe them? He is going into the holding on Tuesday to start his outprocessing. Thanks!

i mean really apprecaite it. i truly feel the only way to really really understand freedom is to have it taken away for long periods of time. i dont feel the majority of people ever stop to think about how much freedom we enjoy, but you may feel different than me. id like to hear your opinions, if you think im right or if you think im way off...thanks.

How long does it take to detect the U-238? And does the military test for it during their outgoing physicals? What about Soldiers from Afghanistan?

I have 2 sons that have returned from Iraq and a daughter leaving in a few weeks for Iraq and a daughter in Afhganistan.

If this shows up in their blood work, I want them to be sure it is documented so years down the line when the government decides it is a real disease, they are covered.
