Hello everyone i am 22 and I am aspiring to be a firefighter and as of right now im training to become a civilian firefighter by getting my certifications in my home state...but i have been having some trouble getting hired due to lack of experience and i am looking for something exciting to do .....I have always had a love to serve my country and am thinking about joining the army to become a firefighter their and gain experience and discipline....i wanted to know what branch of the army i should join...and if any of you in the army can tell me how it is and if its worth it...thanks for the help

Can you still receive commission as a 2nd Lieutenant if you go through the Army ROTC program and you don't accept the ROTC scholarship or stipend?

I am receiving scholarship money to go to college which pretty much covers a full ride. On the side, I am doing Army ROTC at my college.

The ROTC scholarship covers a full ride, but if I accept that then I have to repay the Army back with 4 years of Active Duty and 4 years on Reserves.

I was wondering that if I complete the ROTC program and don't accept their money (become a contracted cadet) can I still receive a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant?

Can I have the military move me back home since my husband and I are getting a divorce??? We live in Fl and my home of record is VA. We have only had the military move us once and that was when we transfered out of state to FL 2 years ago.

i know that boot camp is about 8 to 9 weeks but do you get to rest and see your family before you go to "a" school i heard you get 2 weeks and i also heard that you dont and you go directly to A school

I have a question about the things that are on my great uncle headstone, I know that he was awarded these honors from the Korean War: Prisoner of War Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

the question I have is that on his headstone there is also a PH and I'm wondering if this could mean "Purple Heart"

Uncle Woody was captured in North Korea and was eventually killed as a P.O.W. I'm just interesting in learning more about this

ok so here is my situation I am 17 I just graduated Highschool a few months earlier and I am an only son, that is also why my Parents don't want to sign my Parental Consent(dang!!! all they have to do is write their name) so instead of the military I am getting sent to college, and I will have a Bachelor's degree in Science or something, they say I have great opportunities in the military if I go to college first, is this true??? Am I really going to be an officer if I have a degree??? Which one do you think will be a good plan: a. Runaway after the age of 18(next year) no college, no nothing just plain Military career b. go to college and join the military later??? I am confused If you are in my shoes which one will you choose???

Since people from the government are now debating and thinking about sending our troops home and ending the war, do you still think it will be useful to be in the military if there is no war??? No offense to those who joined before the war, but I kinda don't get it

My sister is a month away from getting out of AIT and just found out she is pregnant.
I'm just trying to understand what will happen to her (ie: will she be discharged, etc) when she tells her Sgt.
Will she be able to finish her AIT? She would like to remain in the military but I'm not even sure if that is possible.
Any info would be great.

My Dad, according to my brother, was transported to a base in Hawaii on a ship he (bro) believed was the USS Haywood. My brother said it was bombed & sunk the very next day. This would have been somewhere around 1943-45. Does anyone know anything about it? Website, personal knowledge, whatever?

Lessee the media is portraing the war as if we are losing but i dont think we are. you see a while ago the "news" said we lost 80 americans this year in iraq. BUT what they failed to mention is that in this same year we killed 6000 TERRORISTS! thats a 75-1 ratio that sounds like we are winning to me. Ok maybe we accidently killed 250-300 civilians this year (or maybe through the whole war i dunno cuz' the media "forgot" to mention which) but the didn't say how many civilians the TERRORISTS have killed (in the thousands dude). so lets add emm up
6000-80 thats a win
1000's-200 thats a win too. it seems to me like we are winning its a sad day when america doesnt support itself. so plz explain this to me WHY DOES THE MEDIA HATE THIS COUNTRY? and why do ppl think were losing when we cleary are making progress in iraq?
