this isn't for potential boyfriend material. I'm happily married. I have a friend I hadn't heard from in a while and when I did, I noticed the rank and was just curious.

Chief Warrant Officer 4. Pretty darn high on the Chain of Command. the only CWO grade higher is 5, and then the next highest is O1. But most CWOs are given more respect than Os, due to their technical expertise and longevity.

It is Chief Warrant Officer 4. You address him/her as Chief last name or sir/mam. It is a speciality field in the military. It is easier to obtain in the Army. (time wise) In the Army you must be an e-5 to be considered in the Navy I believe e-8 or above to be considered. They are considered subject matter experts in their fields. CW5 is rare so CW4 most retire at.

Chief Warrant Officer 4. (There are 4 warrant officer ranks)
The warrant officer is above the nine enlisted ranks and below the ten officer ranks. Therefore right about in the middle of the rank structure. Pay is in the same range.

That would be "CWO" which is a chief warrant officer, Equivelent in pay, not rank, to a Major.

Chief Warrant Officer, 4th Grade....not too shabby. If he doesn't have too many kids, you might should consider him.
