This question was brought up on the discovery channel a while back. It was actually best 10 tanks EVER. I don't remember all of them and what rank they were but here's a few (In no particular order):

1. M1A1 Abrams - Obviously. Built to withstand land mines, rockets, and missles. High resolution optics. And able to withstand most NBC attacks.

2. German Tiger - Built during World War 2, it was fast and armed well for its time. Its armor surpassed anything during its time.

Whew!! Brain fart I need a break!!

There are only 2 "best tanks on earth".
The US made M1 Abrams tanks, and the Israeli made Merkava (Chariot) series tanks.
