No. Active Duty Service Members currently on leave away from their Duty Station will not recive services at a local VA Hospital. If it is an urgent care situation, the service member is to go to the nearest emergency room. The service member can also contact his PCM where he is stationed, the PCM can then decide if the issue is urgent enough to give a referal to a civilian network provider or if the service member should wait until returning from leave.

Check with tricare for the closest civilian hosptial in the network. Generally, Tricare covers emergency treatment costs 100%, but it is always best to go to an in-network hospital if possible. You can also go to the tricare website for a list of hospitals and doctors in your area.

as a general rule the tricare policy is if you are in immediate danger of losing life, limb, or eyesight go to the nearest ER. Even to go to the ER if its not life threatening you have to call them first and tell them about your injury and let them decide if they want you to go to an ER or a local doctor where you are at. Here is the exact definition of emergency from the glossary on the tricare site.....if your condition doesnt meet this criteria call them and find out what they want you to do.

Emergency:Medical services provided for a sudden or unexpected medical or psychiatric condition, or the sudden worsening of a chronic (ongoing) condition that is threatening to life, limb or sight and needs immediate medical treatment, or which has painful symptoms that need immediate relief to stop suffering.

You can go to any Hospital, and when you get the bill take it to your Tricare representative on base. Fill them in on what happened, and they will take care of the rest. You won't have to pay a cent.

A soldier on leave can receive health care if needed from any hospital. He needs to call TRI- CARE as soon as possible to get the paper work taken care of so he does not get stuck with the bill. For general information about TRICARE, you can call the toll-free TRICARE information line: 1-877-DoD-MEDS (1-877-363-6337).

A va hospital probally wouldn't treat you.

You can go to any military hospital of any branch.

If no military bases or post are close by, you can go to the local emergency room.

But doom on you, if you go to a civilian emergency room on leave, for something silly.

Your best bet, is to just drive to the closest military base and go to thier hospital.
