Hey Ladies-

I am getting a box ready for our local support our troops to send out to our troops in Iraq. I have the usual-gum, baby wipes, hard candies, sunscreen, chapstick, calling cards, etc. But I am wondering........I make handmade soaps and some bath & body products. Would those be useful (like girly treats?) over there--or not? I have little 2 oz body sprays, some lotions and bath salts etc. Obviously body butter is out but would this stuff get used there--or should I stick to basics? Also--anything else you found useful over there? I also **heard** that disposable baby diapers are used for a instant desert shower (fill with water and squeeze over your head) hmmm, ever hear of that? Suggestions welcome!

Im kind of stuck. Im a 16 male, and looking to join the armed forces after college. Yet, i've been told that i am too smart to join the military. Im pretty smart and want to go to college, maybe an acadamy. But i am unsure of which branch would be right for me. I have a strong interest in the Army Rangers and the Marines, but im not so sure which would be the better choice.

Veterens only please, thanks.

I see how someone said that they won't let me in with 2 DUIs, but my recruiter has seen people with worse records get in. Now I don't know if that means 3 DUIs or more severe crimes but there is an old saying that you have to have a DUI to be a Master Chief. I know that with more than 3 convictions of any kind you are not getting in, I don't care what they say. I just don't see why my recruiter would lie, he called me as if there was no problem getting in when I asked on the military website.

3 British soldiers that were killed by friendly fire or is this considered an occupational hazard?

I'm not trying to be insensitive with the occupational hazard part but I am questioning because part of being in the military is putting your life on the line.

I have two DUIs one in Feb. 2006 and the other Sep. 2001. I have a "withold adjudication" for "conspiring to defraud" but went through Pre-Trial Intervention to not be found guilty of the crime. My NAVY recruiter said that he has seen worse get in but I wanted to get some odds from the regular folks. I scored a 78 on the ASVAB, I am currently attending college and majoring in Computer Programming. The only other things on my record are a couple of speeding tickets and such. The "conspiring to defraud" happened in 2003, so the only recent problem I have had was in early 2006. Other than that it has been atleast 4 years since other problems. I have changed my life and have letters of reccommendation from a Ret. Navy Officer, a Ret. Air Force Sgt., and my employers. Has anyone heard of someone joining with 2 DUIs? I know that the military looks at it as "he didn't learn from his first one" and that was true. I admit. But there is NO WAY that it will happen again. I want to drive again!

First he announces his intention to continue with the
so-called, missile defense system, then the Russians resume their strategic bomber runs in response (they discontinued those flights years ago as tensions cooled). Now the general who heads the department protecting North America from threats is moving our current defense system out of Cheyenne Mountain to a basement on a military installation.

Cheyenne Mountain was created some 50 years ago to protect North America from those same bomber runs by the Ruskies. 2,000 feet of granite and 3 foot thick doors designed to protect against nuclear, chemical and bioligical detonations. We're leaving that behind for "better cordination of personel. Your thoughts.

I'm an... out-of-the-closet atheist, and I'm wondering if there's a lot of prejudice against atheists within the military... I'll wager that there is some, but if someone could share some first-hand experience, I'd be grateful for it.

I think that if an 18 year old that wants to go in to the miliary and fight for his country and put his life on the line, he/she should be able to drink. We will give them a gun but we wont let him drink? What do you think?

I am a Veteran. I am in my my 50's.

If we leave Iraq...we (our children) will have to fight this war.

We are there, no matter what you think about it. We must stay.
We must...we have to honor our comittments.

To do otherwise is an injustice to those who gave all, to those who understand.

God Bless our Nation. And....those who volunteer to defend her.
