The military has one of the smartest people in the World. Some people are just ignorant and judge a crowd for ones action. I would recommend the USAF academy, particularly to become a doctor or pilot. However, this academy is extremely difficult it takes more then just smarts to graduate from it. I am sure all those people who said you are to smart for the military could not last one month in ANY military academy. The question is can you?

Just an FYI, not everyone that enlists in the military is a blundering idiot. Service acadamies are very competetive and hard to get into. You'll need close to a 4.0 gpa, along with a good list of extra curricular activites to even get looked at. If this sounds like you, then by all means go for it. You could always go to college and do ROTC also, and decide what MOS you want after getting a taste of what the military is really like. As far as Rangers vs Marines, I go army, but I'm biased. You'll get a hefty bonus if you go ranger. I was in the same boat as you back when I was in high school, I was an A student and wanted to join, but didn't really want to be enlisted. I put a warrant officer flight school packet in my senior year and got accepted, I fly black hawks now. If you're intrested in flying, you may consider doing that, flight school definatly requires a bit of intelligence.

I have served enlisted Air Force 4 years, Navy 14 (as a naval officer I've done 2 years with the Marines and 3 with the Coast Guard). I really love the Marines, but I have to admit too many people overlook the Coast Guard, they have lots of jobs for "smart" people and an Academy.

I'm not in the service & never have been.
I did some research on it when my son wanted to go into the service. He finally decided that the Navy would have been best for him.
Some of the reasons, you travel alot more all over the world, the pay was better, they seemed to have more opointions, they wasn't pushy like the others.
Do you research and no matter what you decide or what they tell you just make sure it is all in writing before you sign anything. They do have a habit of telling you what you want to hear but then they put completely different things in the agreement. All of them do that.

You are only 16, so I assume you are going into your Junior year. If you are so smart, why don't you work towards applying for one of the academy's? A degree from a military academy gives one a great head start in the world and the military. It doesn't matter which academy you go to. An education will take you a long way, and any branch will be happy to accept you. You will be a benefit to any of them.

Below I have included links for the military colleges. Now you gotta think what you want to work with. Planes..do air force. Go on ships..do navy. Etc. I know all branches have their own planes and such but over all big picture.
You could ask your self which uniforms do you prefer??
No one is too smart for the military..that's an insult to all that are in.
I think, if I had to do it all over again. I would do ROTC while in college and then join the military. best of both worlds..get schooling and military.

When you're in college do the ROTC program and come in as an officer in Military Intel. Those people are REALLY smart and the military actually needs really smart people. Being fluent in a couple of languages would help you too.. plus if you know a language, or sign language or you can read lips really good.. you get paid extra just for knowing that. If you're smart.. use your knowledge.. dont throw it away on infantry. Especially if you have college. if you have a bachelors degree.. you CAN COME IN AS AN OFFICER!! I dont care what anybody tells you... YOU CAN. But youd have to go through OCS still. But if you do ROTC.. you just come straight in as an officer. But all officers have a little course to go through... it's BLC(Basic Leadership Course) i think. Enlisted in the army go through WLC(Warrior Leadership Course).

What the heck does that mean "too smart for the military." I have graduated from college and am now in graduate school. I also have twenty years in the military (USN/USNR) and the smartest person that I have ever met was an MM1, an enlisted sailor. He was smarter than all of the officers on the ship and much more intelligent than some of the students I have met on campus.

it would all depend. first of all you have said nothing about your physical capabilities. If your smart you should be a pilot or an engineer for the army. If you are really smart but also in amazing shape I would say the special forces are for you where both smarts and physical fitness is a must. It all depends on your capabilities and what you want to do. Ask a recruiter they should have plenty of ideas of what you would be suited for.

Your perfect guess is to speak to each and all the recruiters and take the ASVAB to work out what jobs you qualify for. it extremely is a placement attempt for each and all the amenities not an legal duty. refer to a recruiter of any provider and take the attempt. After the ASVAB refer to each and all the amenities to work out what one provides you with the activity which you think of you need perfect. merely given which you're taking the ASVAB attempt with the army does not mean you're able to desire to affix with them you are able to stroll down the hallway and communicate with the Marines, Airforce, who ever you like. it extremely is a sprint secret that I want I had usual approximately. each and all the amenities have the two there united statesand downs and no-you are able to nevertheless extremely answer this question for you.
