It will take about that long at least the Air Force must investigate the reason for your family's request. It may be that you will have to leave before the request is granted to your husband. If it is a real emergency contact your Congressional Rep or your Senator and see if they can help you. Good luck and I hope all works out for you.

talk to your first shirt. he will probably refer you to the red cross. there ar a few things you should consider. can you move your mother and sister clsoer to you? unless there is an air force base where your mother lives, you'd have to commute from the nearest base to your mother and back - and that is ASSUMING that (1) if there is a base near your mom, (2) do they have your job there, and (3) are there any openings? now if you are looking for a humanitarian discharge, that is going to be easier to get honestly - a troop in my chain of command received one for a similar circumstance - but that was OUT of the service. even if you were to get a humanitarian reassignment - you will still be expected to perform your duties and don't expect special duty hours - the mission of the Air Force STILL comes first, and you will still be subject to deployment. sorry if that sounds harsh, but that is the way the Air Force works. many a times i missed a holiday, anniversary, or birthday.

it will take at least that long before the investigation is completed. it may take longer before a decision is reached.

Personal reasons, however, are usually denied. only true emergencies.. serious illness of a family member, for instance are considered. marital problems won't necessarily be enough of a reason, nor will money problems. nor will legal issues be necessarily a good enough reason.

also, if a slot for him cannot be found in New Jersey, it can be denied.

Try the Red Cross, too. Good luck.
