Yeah its sad.... that we lost so many American Armed Forces Men and Women for a sensless, greedy war.

They should cry and I hope it haunts them for the rest of their life... they probably don't care either way.

Republican President Nixon spent four years getting the US out of Vietnam, a military campaign begun by Democrat President Johnson.

The Paris Peace Accord included Hanoi's promise not to invade South Vietnam once American troops left. After Nixon's resignation, North Vietnam began its offensive in the south, using more troops than even the Tet Offensive. President Ford knew that he would get no support for any American involvement, so he had to stand aside while Saigon fell.

My brother-in-law knows a republican who cried when Saigon fell. He fled Vietnam as a child and did not see his family again for over twenty years.

If you "informed" anybody knowledgeable of your theory, whether they are registered Democrat oRepublicanr , you are going to get the same reaction. It's tears of mirth. They're laughing so hard, that tears are coming from their eyes.

Of course, you're entitled to your opinion, but before you try to impress anybody with your grasp on history, you really need to get one.

FYI, the war had been going on for several years before the US entered it. The French were helping the South Vietnamese. China and Russia were helping the North Vietnamese. Kennedy was President when we entered the war. President Johnson got us in deeper. But he didn't have the backbone Kennedy did to win the war. He was bucking the same uninformed public opinion Congress and the President are bucking today. He didn't know how to handle it so it grew to the point it was even able to corrupt the Constitution of the United States. But that's another story. There was a lot going on back then.

There's a lot going on today too.

And I'll hazard a guess you know just about as much about what's going on today as you do about what was going back then.

I don't know why, so many factors put that loss into motion, I believe the peace movement in 1970 had a lot to do with it.

We weren't really getting anywhere and it it simply ate up resources, but more importantly LIFE.

LOL, I wish I could say something to make someone I didn't particularly like drop to their knees and cry like a baby, wow..it would have to be powerful, stinging words!

Although the north completed the conquest of the south in '75 under Ford, the fact is that South Vietnam was surrendered, to the Chinese by Kissinger under Nixon's watch.

No, why should I cry? Doesn't bother me one bit, neither does the fact that a Democrat got us into Vietnam to begin with (President John Fitzgerald Kennedy) and another Democrat got us deeper into it too (President Lyndon Baines Johnson).

So what's your point?

Well, since it started under LBJ, you probably won't get to take that argument very far. Of course, I see many Repubs on here who are already placing the blame for Iraq on the Democrats in Congress.

No because you are totally wrong. Since we were out of there in 73. The north did indeed finish in 74, but there were only support people there back then.
I doubt you are exagerating, I think you are lying. No one cries over that crap.
We lost the war thanks to LBJ.
Ken, check your sources for history. Bill CLinton is the only President impeached this century. Nixon resigned.

Your 6 years in the military seems to make you an expert in degrading everthing associated with our military, our leadership and our country. I'm damned glad the military threw your butt out.

g-man. those were persian hostage takers that carter failed to take care of. it was reagan who failed to take care of the arab hostage takers (hizbollah took all those journalists hostage), reagan also 'cut and ran' from hizbollah after they killed 242 marines in lebanon. i'm a republican but we can't and shouldn't want to change our history for petty partisan reasons.
