This is not a joke. I know where the term Leathernecks came from and I understand the term "trooper". But what does the term "Jarhead" mean and how did the Marines get stuck with it? It does seem to be a term of endearment.

would it be wiser to just start to focus on Syria?Iran DOES NOT want any part of the US military...they have seen what the force of our country will do. This is a major part on why we can not pull out and run from Iraq. The whole world is watching. If we run we will never again be feared, and yes the world does fear the the Red White and Blue.We are the "police: of the world,whether you or I like it.Better it be us than them, right. I believe the US wil not enter Iran with ground forces, I just think we will use our powers in the sky, or our mysteries in the ocean to put an end to the Iranian Nuclear Disaster. Either way Iran will loose all its nuclear toys soon.. I just recently read today that there was suppose to be a meeting abou the closure of Guantanamo Bay in Cuba and that the detainees may be transfered to Fort Leavenworth KS. My husband is currently stationed at GITMO. He is only 2 months into a year tour there. If they would decide to do this and close GITMO down, what would they do with the troops who are currently stationed there? How long do you think this whole process would take? I know not to get my hopes up about my husbands early homecoming, due to the fact that who knows they may decide to send him to Iraq or something instead of sending him home. It would be nice though!! But any insight into this subject would be grealty appreciated!!! THANK YOU!!!

What are my chances of becoming an Officer? And what else does the Navy look for besides grades? I am a good student, yet I became bored in college and let my grades slip in my last few semesters. This does not reflect my actual workmanship. I recieved a 97 on the ASVAB in High School and am quite confident I could do the same now. I am also an excellent runner and swimmer, as I plan to join the SEALs provided I can get into OCS.

Just finished reading some European blogs that say " We will destroy the USA" and "The USA loses to little countries" and struff like that. We lost Vietnam because of the dumbass hippie comunists. We had North Vietnam in a good place to place to be beat but the hippies put a stop to that. I mean, even before we had our super military of today, we were the reason why Germany lost. I don't want to see another frenchmen whining "USA is icompotent" or anything like that because if we haden't been in world war 2 it would be in Germen. Oh, and Europe, its ok what your doing, its only natural to want to see the giant go down:)

Who becomes "fat" on deployment and who gets "buff"
I've been to the middle east on many deployments and this has become a trend. Now that I've retired and no longer deploy, does anyone still see this happen?
