Just thought I would lighten the atmosphere.
I'll share my most . I had to go to NATO headquarters, I went with the General. I had all my notes and papers in order, I had my uniform in top condition. It was raining, I was wearing those stupid female shoes, I slipped on the steps. Everything flew out of my hands.
Notes were soaked, My uniform a mess.
I was given compassion. The top brass forgave it. But they did toast to me forever as the woman who couldn't walk up steps.

so background information....im a girl and im 18, just graduated from high school and i have never given the army any thought whatsoever...in fact i have always been completely apposed to joining. recently, (and im not sure if its just because of the stress of not being in high school anymore and having my future ahead of me) i have been thinking that maybe the army is right for me. there are some problems though. for starters my parents are completely against me joining the armed forces, not because they dont like the army or anything but they dont want to see me get hurt or leave, etc. secondly, i have clinical depression and have been on anti-depressants for years now, am i even elegible to enlist? i dont know what i should do and i need some feedback from soldiers or people who kind of understand. please help!!

I specifically would like to find a number of ex military specials ops personnel who can describe to me mission strategy, prep, execution and provide background information surrounding the planning, training and execution of operations. I'd like to present a scenario and have them take me through exactly the same process that they would go through if they were still n the military and prepping for the op.
Thanks!

My dream is to be a Navy seal. Ive always wanted to be one my whole life. But, i promised my mom i would go to college and to be a Seal u have to enlist. Should i go to college, get a degree, then join the navy and follow my dream, or, join the navy right out of high school and go for my dream and if it dosent work out, go to college after. ( i have a 80 thousand dollar college fund)

I don't think I just imagined it but didn't we have him scoped out in Afghanistan and didn't take the shot because it would have killed innocent civilians? If this is true why did the US military kill those 7 kids in Afghanistan? Whats the story on that?

Just think about it!

If the House of Representatives and the Senate had been comprised of 50% female Republicans in August of 1963, would LBJ have been successful in getting the Gulf Of Tonkin Resolution passed?

Remember Ronald Reagan's famous recommendation, "Trust but Verify."?

In the absence of a CRITICAL MASS OF TESTOSTERONE, would LBJ have failed to get a sufficient consensus in both Houses to pass the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution?

I feel quite deeply that the more women we get into government, the less likely we are to mistakenly get involved in bogus wars like Vietnam and Iraq.

The CRITICAL MASS OF TESTOSTERONE that has traditionally existed in our government leaves us predisposed to make the kind of major errors in judgement we obviously made that led us into Vietnam and Iraq!

I think that a much larger percentage of women in government at all levels will prevent us from wasting blood and treasure the way we did in Vietnam and are currently doing in Iraq.

So my question is "what is the name of the war in Iraq".
Let me clarify, we know that in the U.S. the war is called "The Iraq war" but somehow I doubt Iraqis would call the war this.
Just like how the U.S. and U.S.S.R. had two different names for the same conflict (world war 2, The Great Patriotic War) I'm sure the conflict must have another name used by Iraqis since for them any war would be "the Iraq war".

Still not sure if I was clear on what I'm asking. I'll look at the answers and provide more detail if this was confusing.

I will be volunteering at the Vietnam Moving Wall the next 3 days. I will be reading names off for an hour each day and Im so nervous that I will not be able to pronounce a name, . Im only 33 years old so I wasnt around during the Vietnam era, however I want to pay my repects to them and this is one of the ways I can do it...I want to give these servicemembers the utmost respect that they deserve. I do not want to offend anyone, I would feel awful...any suggestions? I cant get a list of names until I get there because I pick up where the last person stopped....

I recently found out that the man I have been seeing for the past several months is married. I received an anonymous text message notifying me of this fact and when I confronted him about it he confessed. I immediately ended the relationship and told him that I would be coming to get some belongings that were left at his apartment during the week and that I wanted back the money I had lent him. Ever since this conversation I have been unable to reach him. He is never at home and is ignoring my phone calls. My friend who is a police officer said it would be unlikely that the police would get involved as this would be considered a civil matter and not criminal and the amount owed to me really isn’t worth the hassle of a lawsuit. He is in the military and someone suggested to me that I contact his first sergeant about this matter as he or she would probably be able to “prompt” him to do the right thing. I’m not looking to get him into major trouble, contact his wife or anything like that….I simply want what is rightfully mine. Would contacting his higher ups do the trick or is this a waste of time?
