I think they're a bunch of lunatic assholes.
That freedom of speech thing does suck sometimes.

We give them too much credit..They are actually one extended family, (did someone say INCEST) Anyway they came here to protest at a memorial for 5 fallen Soldiers on post some months ago. The local news gave them time and a local radio station also gave them airtime. It was actually only 2 adults and 3 children!!! Not exactly scary LOL What I'm getting at is don't give them what they want...press!!
They were out at one of our gates with homemade paper signs. I was at the memorial for the Soldiers. My daughter was out there counter-protesting with a huge group of people. We also had a group of Freedom Riders (motorcycle club) and some other of our local biker clubs. The counter-protesters were holding American flags and large signs blocking them singing patriotic songs drowning them out.My daughter said it was hilarious. The folks from Westboro were getting really angry and finally GAVE UP and left!! They are certainly not getting anyway over to their side!!! The irony of this is that they protest the very people who gives them the freedom to spout their ignorant beliefs.
Proud Army Wife!!! HOOAH!!

I first found out about Westboro Baptist Church last year on Hannity and Colmes when I was 13 . What they do is absolutely disgusting and apalling. Just because I and most others hate them and how they disrespect the soldiers doesn't make it illegal. There's nothing we can do about what they do this year at WTC.

Sad as it is, if they had stuck to their "God Hate F--s" they could have had a decent following. However, the anti-solider and WTC protests are a bit over the top and kind of nuts.
It's their right, but they are disgusting. Also, if we simply ignore them they won't come. They were saying they were coming to a soldier's funeral in WI. The WI community and press urged everyone to ignore them and they ended up not coming. They just want the attention.

I'm surprised their church hasn't been fire-bombed yet. You have the Freedom of Speech and the right to protest in the US, but you do have to take the responsibilty for saying what you say.

I despise the people who do this. Do they not realize that they are just bringing misery and anger out of everything they do. They are far from being Christ-like as far as I'm concerned. They need to be stopped. They are EVIL.

Those people are the reason God invented nightsticks. I think that would be the perfect opportunity to reenact the disaster and just drop a cluster bomb on their worthless butts.

free speech.
I am a soldier (from Kansas). They do their thing and I do mine. As long as they don't directly affect me in any meaningful way they can do as they please and I will continue to ignore them.
If I actually put some real thought into this I have to say that they put themselves out of the rest of society. Their inability to be a meaningful part of the rest of america will only hurt them in the long run, but they are free to do as they wish as long as it remains peaceful and legal.

Even though I believe in Freedom of Speech.....
I'd love to wack some sense into them. I'd be on the look out for some of them to be attacked if/when they come to NYC. My neighbor who lost her fireman son in the WTC is sure to come out, even though she has displaced hips and kick the sh*t of of them.
What did was the quote I love from Spiderman?
"This is NY, you mess with one of us, you mess with all of us". So true.

They do a wonderful job of making themselves and their viewpoint look not just unbelievably stupid but unbelievably cruel and evil as well. So let em show up, I hope millions of people learn how evil they are.
