If your military is so great, why are they loosing in Iraq, and why are they making every attempt to get the Taliban support from the population again, by bombing civilians?
As far as I know they left what you call the "commie hippies" at home.
As soon as you can't use your superior technology, it shows that the actual people fighting aren't that great at all, at least not significantly/sufficiently better than their enemies.
All the past glory of WW2 is just that - past.

Our military is the Greatest strength this side of the sun, no one can and or ever will beat us. the reason we were defeated in those police conflicts is not due to bad leadership or a bad commander and chief, but due to the American way of life, no matter who is in charge you always have to add our 10 cents in and blame the person you don't like.. and that my friend is called politics and the president is nothing more than a scape goat for congress, and the American public. We have never lost a war, we have retreated for police actions.
And as for the French and or all Europeans for that matter they are like a small children wanting to have what the big brother has, whining and crying about everything as they grow. The EU is a new land of old countries and they are now realizing that together they are strong but they still want to be individuals. Give them time they will grow up.

SouthernGrits' comment is so accurate that I'll repeat it:
"Our all-volunteer military is the BEST in the world. Politics is what screws up military efforts nowdays."
If only we didn't have 535 Congresspeople debating the issue IN PUBLIC, and taking positions with an eye to the polls and trying to win the next election by making their opponents look bad. The net effect is that EVERYONE looks bad (all the politicians, that is) and our nation appears to have no unified direction and no resolve.
Add to that the news agencies trying to report everything and predict what all the politicians and military are going to do and what the public is going to think of it, and you really have a very difficult situation. One can only wish that the enemy were blessed with a democratic system of government and a free press. Sure, we love democracy and freedom of the press, but if it increases the amount of terrorism in the world (and I think it does right now), then you have to wish that the politicians and the press would THINK about what they're doing and how they could avoid hurting our national interests.
Final note about France:
When the U.S. was asking members of the UN to send forces to go into Iraq and remove Saddam from power, Jay Leno made the following comment:
"France announced today that they will not help the U.S. throw Saddam Hussein out of Iraq.
Well, that's no surprise. In World War II France wouldn't help the U.S. throw Hitler out of France."

Why is it the same people who bring up this BS are the same ones who want us to do more to stop Genocide in Sudan and everywhere else. Iraq was governed by a ruthless dictator, with two dictor sons waiting in the wings. Iraqis where dying everyday in Iraq before (heck he even gassed his own people) he just kept the rest of the world in the dark about it. Oh but lets not recognize that a mass murderer is now off the face of the earth and the Iraqi's now at least have some hope for the future. By the way... The majority of Iraqis where dying from insurgent activity not the US. Which you would notice since American forces with their allies have now with the surge have reduced violence there 80%.

Europe? Who the Hell cares what happens in Europe or what they say, Britain would be the only country over there I really give a sh!t about. Without the US, theyd all be speaking German or dead.
Were not loosing to little countries, we kicked their @sses militarial wise, but as you said its the Hippy Liberals and Commies that are making this occupation what it is. We went in, took out their leader, took out their military, took control of the entire country, created a new government w/ its own fighting force...Wait, wasnt that the objective of this whole operation in the first place?
Just because Europes, again excluded Britain, have been sitting on their @sses since before WWI doing nothing doesnt mean they can critisize those doing something. The US could defeat all of Europe in conventional War hands down, and w/ Britain at their side they dont really need anyone else.

The Giant will never go down. We have one of the best Military full of Dedicated men/women. Europe should be ashamed of themselves , because look what America did to help them. Evidently the people who say negative against America, are too young to remember how the USA, defended them and fed them when they were starving. The European women and children would run to meet the troops of American Soldiers. They were happy to see them , because they knew that help was there and on it's way. So whatever you do, is not to listen and believe the European Propaganda. Please don't degrade the Soldiers who served in Vietnam. All three of my brothers served and it was awful what they had to endure. So unless you know the entire truth, do not listen to Propaganda. Just from the way you write, I can tell your very young. Many Europeans are simply jealous of America. It is a true example of the saying: Bite the hand that helped them.

Our military is the best in the world today. Even after Iraq. We really have the most best trained and healthiest and equipped in our history. It is just too small. It is too selective of a representation of our national population. We need a draft again for two reason's. First is number's. We need more. Second is to share the pain. I hate to say it but overall this war has never been so unequal in that way. I am waiting for Jame's Webb to eventually run for president. He has been both (R) and (D), was a Vietnam marine. And has a son a current Jarhead. In spite of my joke's about marine's, no one I would like to have more next to me in a fight or leading me at the national level. I think when Webb has the pull to run he will reverse our trend in downhill at the presidential level if he win's. It won't happen in the next election, but eventually I think it will. I have this feeling he will be the first Vietnam veteran to be president and also one of our greatest overall.

The men and women are the best. The problem come from high on not just the president but the Generals that are more into politics than fighting a war. We need generals that will state the truth and do what is right to win They should not care if it hurts them in the rush for the next star. Bush is in no way the best commander but he is by far better then Kerry or Gore would have been.
I need to add this it is hard to fight a war if a knife is in your back. The Dems put it there and love to twist it.

We have the best military in the world, we also have the most intrusive and corrupt media in the world, we stomped the nation of Iraq at the time the 4th largest military in the world in less than 3 months, (understand what that means, china Russia USA Iraq) 12 years later we stomped the country itself in less than one month, Europe and our own media wanna say how we need to pull out and that now we are an occupation force, but notice that they don't mention that there are still french troops under u.n. control occupying kosivo, or how the allies occupied post ww2 Germany for over seven years,

We have a great military! The problem lies with each member of Congress and the Senate each think they have a say in how the military is to run once we are in combat.
No where in the military chain of command is there a single congressman or senator.
We can have only one Commander-in Chief!

we have a great military and anyone who says different is either stupid or jealous, however no army or fighting force can be effective if they have their hands tied, and our politicians have pulled this same **** since Korea, but as Gen, MacArthur and Gen Patton said after WW11 they both said America would never win another war, Have we??
this is just another P.C, idea that don't work, it seems our politicians would wake up and see this and make the necessary changes, or are they paid off to be this way if so who profits from it???it sure as hell is not the poor slob who is getting shot at, But it must be some one big,
