she is 21 years old and has asked me to see what her opportunities are on the outside as a civilian are in the job market . She wanted to become a police officer . And I felt that eight years in the marines would give her a lot more opportunity of getting a higher paying job . Than 4 years in the marines would . I know she must make her own mind up . But it's a tough decision not knowing if she could find a job on the outside as she has bills that come each month if any one knows of an employer looking for a very hard working woman with a good head on are shoulders that has for years in the marines under her belt I would like to pass this information onto her to help her make her own decision .as I know it's hard to make a decision without knowing the opportunities that are out there. so if anyone can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated . from a father who only wants to give the best advice he can to his daughter . he's so proud of .

i heard somewhere that if you can see fine without glasses but don't have 20/20 vision you don't have to wear bc glasses during boot camp. anyone know if this is true? i have perfect vision in my left eye but my right eye is kinda bad. but it's correctable with glasses. i don't ever wear glasses and i can see perfectly with both eyes (street signs, far away writing). it's kinda hard to believe that drill instructors would check every recruit to see if he's wearing his glasses or not.
p.s. i'm right handed and want to join as rifleman if that helps...

Could anybody help me with some evidence as to why World War I was not a modern war? Preferably have modern war defined as a war that utilized advanced techniques to increase progress in warfare.

be a civilian again she's been in for 4 years and asked me what she should do . I feel she should Rein list for another 4 years only because her opportunities on the outside for a good paying job I feel would be a lot better with 8 years in the marines . It's just I don't know if this is true or not and I don't want to give her bad advice so I'm asking for help on this answer I need to give her by tonight I feel that because she's a woman in the marines she's finding that the guys make more money get the better jobs and she's not moving up in rank as fast as the men are . and this is just discouraging her from Rein listing . It's been hard on her she spent 2 years in Japan . And is now back in the states and she just bought a brand new truck and the payments are high I tried to discourage her from buying a new truck . This also may be why she wants to find a job outside of the marines please help me answer this decision for her . if any one reads this that has a good job 4 her

My question is two-fold.

In the USMC (Marines), when you first arrive for basic training at Parris Island or San Diego, you are drug tested during your in-processing.

1) If you fail the drug test, do you get discharged immediately?

2) If you do get discharged, what kind of discharge do you get? General discharge or dishonorable discharge?

Whats your ideas of the new weapons our military (US) is using in Iraq. The M82A1 50 caliber sniper rifle, the Mini gun, the UAV's that fire Helfire missles, all the smart bombs that can hit a target within 6 feet. How do you feel about all this protection. I like it. I think its cool how powerful our military really is.

I tried to ask in a prevous question but didn't really get answer. I have friends in every branch of the military that all enlisted around the same time and got out around the same time and in the last 6 months they have all been called back to active duty re-call to go back to Iraq. They are requesting exemption because they are either disabled, have spent the last two years running their own business and now would lose their business and their home or both. A Colonel denied their first requests and they had to appeal it to the General level. What kind of country calls back disabled vets to fight in combat (all combat arms mos's) when they can barely walk and are on pain meds all day + they've made a life using their education instead of their physical skills since their bodies are so used up now. This isn't the country I grew up in and im ashamed they even have to go through this. Anyone have info that could help?

On (American) Aircraft Carriers do they always have aircraft in the air for defense. If they dont then do they put fighters on a alert 5 (with pilots in the cockpit) sitting for hours on end in the aircraft. I would assume in war zones they do that but all I know is from the movies, which are not that accurate. Or do they just trust the air defense ships to protect the carrier.
and I am not trying to figure out anything sensitive, feel free to tell me how we did it 20 or 30 years ago in Vietnam. Thanks

Do car insurance companies offer discounts on car insurance to those enlisted in the military. I'm going to be going off to the air force soon and I've decided i'm definately not taking my car. If I happen not to sell it either and just leave it at home, how do car insurance companies help with that? Do they give discounts to those away on military duty?
