megaton = 1 million tons TNT
kiloton = 1 thousand tons TNT

A 1 kiloton bomb is a block buster and a 1 megaton bomb is a city buster. And I wouldn't want to be in the vacinity of either.

Since 'mega' means 'million' and 'kilo' means 'thousand' then a megaton is one million tons, and a kiloton is one thousand tons.

ton stands for the destructive power of a ton of TNT, so, a kiloton is equal to 1,000 tons of TNT. A megaton is equal to a 1,000,000 tons of TNT.

a ton depends on the unit. A metric ton is 1000 kgs, whereas an imperial ton is 2000 lbs.

If you are talking about yields of nuclear weapons they use metric tons.
