I want to enlist so I can learn aircraft maintenance, esp A&P and I'd like to stay away from avionics if possible. Recruiters have a reputation for telling people what they want to hear, so I was hoping to get some info prior to speaking with them. I don't want to be stuck repairing generators or humvees (not that those jobs aren't necessary, I just want to learn about airplanes).

I and my husband, a brave American soldier, had been married 25 years when he was killed in Iraq while deployed with the Army National Guard. I don't support this war. I don't believe what we're doing over there helps our country. When he was killed, just five weeks after reaching Iraq, I would love to have been there holding him. What did my husband die for?

or a thing of the past. i think the last amphbious assault was done in korea decades ago. also, blending in the marine corps with the army will make our army roughly 3 divisions larger and the government will save billions of dollars. the marine corps did its job in the past but now its a relic that needs reorganization. the boot camp is entirely to long and to brutal. in other words, there is nothing the marines could do that the army havnt done. how many of u agree?

Thanks to Yahoo and other news sources, we have learned Walter Reed Hospital is a house of pestilence, rather than a treatment center for American Veterans unfortunate enough to land there. WRH is directly under the auspices of the Veterans' Administration and if a creepshow as this can be exposed, what about the conditions in your local VA Hospital? Will you demand respectful treatment of those whom stand between you and a domestic or foriegn adversary?

US Sec of Defense should have Veterans Hospitals investigated by some one other than (YES) men or some one furthering there political career. Let some veterans do the inspecting and let the chips fall where they may. Enough of the cover ups. Vets are getting the short end, period.

Can a guy enter the Corps as a Machine Gunner (0351) if theyre not the biggest guy around? Ive heard that the Machine Gunner has to haul around the heaviest of any of the other Infantry, even the Assaultman and Anti-Tankers.

(Looking for experienced people to answer)

-How much are modern machine gunners in the USMC have to carry around all the time?
-Do you have to be a real big guy to do it? I dont mean Im the smallest/weakest guy or anything, but there are people stronger/bigger than me?

Im in the process of enlisting so this would be a great help...

A great sourse of shame in my life was that when I joined the Navy in 1988 at age 20, I was immature, and washed out in less than 6 months. I'm really thinking of seeing about rejoining- to make ammends for that big failure in my life, and to serve my country. As many of the standards for enlisting are changing a bit since we are at war- what is the policy in the US military if a person who washed out wants to reinlist? What would blackball a person from reinlistment? I don't think I'm too old- i think the age cutoff was raised to 42.

Why don't we pay the troops more, or make sure they have a home to come home to? Why are the veterans so neglected? We pay sports stars like football, basketball, and NASCAR more than the troops that protect our freedom. The VA hospitals are in such horrible conditions, and no one notices. We don't have enough room to ocomodate the wounded soldiers yet we keep paying sport stars more, why?

Okay i'm enlisting in the air force soon. I'm young and don't have much money saved up yet. I'm not entering the military for the money (at least it's not the main reason). I was thinking of selling my car sometime before I go off to boot camp. It would give me about 4 or 5 thousand cash to get some things paid off before I leave for boot camp and active duty. My question is, if I do sell my car, will it be detrimental to my boot camp or my 4 year active duty experience? Is it absolutely necessary to own a car if you are on active duty in the military? Can I get by without one?

Views from those who are or who have been in the military would be greatly appriectiated. Thanks.

Excuse me I'm a "liberal" so I don't understand war - hate war, but it seems strange that conservative people can support war, put "Support Our Troops" banners on their cars, & then when their troops come back home they treat them badly. Like the Walter Reed Hospital thing - and now they are saying other veteran hospitals have same problems. These men and women who were injured in Iraq & Afghanistan cannot get medical treatment without filling out 20 pages of paperwork and have to CERTIFY, i.e. prove their leg was blown off there. I don't understand that. I would think they would treat these people like heroes for what they've done. I mean even I appreciate the sacrafices they made even if I don't agree with who and what sent them to war. They went and fought for their country. They should be treated like royalty when they come back here. Or at least they should have full, easy access to medical care, housing and food. But I'm just a pinko liberal maybe I'm wrong

With the recent reports of Walter Reid and how terribly we treat our injured soldiers, one has to ask if the Administation really supports the troops. Really, how can we treat our injured soldiers this way? What say you Dems, Rebublicans, Military folks? Do you really think we're supporting our troops?

2nd. I'd like to hear from anybody in-the-know about: Can injured soldiers get medical treatment outside of military hospitals and clinics? Repubs always talk about privatizing things, why not let the soldiers use private health care (paid for by the Gov of course)?

I have already asked a question like this before, but I didn't really get what I wanted. If there are any current or past military pharmacists who can go into detail, it would be greatly appreciated. What I really want to know is a specific type of projected career path (if you look on careersinthemilitary.com there is something like that but just not for pharmacy). Also, what are the largest pharmacies (by branch), and where is it that you are most likely assigned to. Thanks for all who answer and don't be afraid to write down a lot, I want to get as much input as I can get.
