Unfortunately, nothing to be extremely proud of. This is the worst time to be in the army, especially since you know that the person who decides what you'll do has no more brains than a goldfish.
Besides, what point is there in these wars anyway? All it is, is innocent people killing other innocent people. Soldiers of one country, killing those of another. This is ridiculous. Instead of these billions of dollars going in to fund the war, we should be trying to find new ways of powering our cars, without the need for petrolium. In fact, there already are, for example with corn, but there arent enough "corn stations"(at least that's what I'll call them) for it to be practical. We should be thinking of other ways to solve countries' problems than with stupid wars.
I am deeply sorry for your loss, and hope that this doesn't happen to any others of your loved ones. I know your husband was fighting to defend his country, but there really is nothing to defend. We weren't just attacked. America is the country that started the whole war. I really hope you feel better. The war will hopefully be over soon.

I am so sorry, I can't say I know how you feel but I do fear it. My husband of 4 years is in the Canadian Military & is going overseas in '08. Sometimes I feel so sad about it, but at the same time I am proud of who my husband is. He is extremely compassionate & wants to really help people. He's a great dad & a beautiful husband, he is torn between leaving us and doing what he feels he should do fo the people of Afghanistan and if he should die there, I really don't know how I'll recover from it. All I can say is that I love him and I'm happy for the times we've had together. Please just remember who he was & that he loved you.

Your husband died so you could ask this very question. Your husband was in the ARMY to serve his Country. He died a hero. I'm very sorry for your loss. I think you need to stand up for what your husband believed in and just be proud that he fought and died for the freedom of our great country.
My husband is in Iraq right now and I count my blessings after every phone call I get. I'm not sure that this war is a great thing but no war is. I do know however that our troops need support from home. They need appreciation for doing their duties.

Juliana:
How would your husband feel about you asking that question? Would he be proud to know that you thought his choice in life (to serve in the military) was all for nothing?
I know you must be tremendously sad, and I feel for you in your time of grief, but don't compound it by questioning something your husband chose to do. He obviously thought it was the right thing at one point, or he would not have joined the guard. Keep his memory alive, and don't doubt HIS convictions.
Good luck to you and your family.

Juliana, he died cause he was a soldier. It could be happend in another situation, like a summer trip, skiing, riding, fishing, and so on.He did his job.He had a mission to do, in the name of his country and its policy. He was payed for fight against anothers foreign armies.Anyone can die in different ways. That´s the way life goes, someone appears, takes our heart and breath away, we love him ou her, and, suddenly, we don't know the reason why, God calls him or her to His Arms. What can I do for you is to wish you best and, sooner or later, the appropriate comfort for your soul, will bright up.It's a matter of time.Best wishes.José Roberto.

I am so sorry for your loss. I'm sure that he was a very brave man, and you must be a very brave woman to deal with this. I don't agree with this war either. I don't know how your husband felt, but no matter what, he died supporting the country that he loved. Again, I am so sorry for your loss.

I am ex-Army and feel your pain. I've had many old friends suffer from this war.
I can't answer your question though. All I can say is that he died doing his job with honor. He was a patriot and when he was called to duty, he went.

As a Viet Nam Vet. 1st of all I can't tell you how sorry I am about your loss. I lost friends in Nam. I saw death of our troops. Your husband was protecting all of us back home. The war on terror right now is in Iraq and Afghanistan. We were attacked on 9/11. I'm sure your husband would rather have fought over there than in Chicago, Biloxi, or Los Angles. he was a brave man and I for 1 appreciate what he did and grieve your loss

I am sorry for your loss. I believe your husband died to keep you and this country safe. Again I am sorry for your loss; I cannot imagine how it would feel to lose someone I loved to this war. I hope you are well or will be well soon.
