WASHINGTON - Military leaders are struggling to choose Army units to stay in Iraq and Afghanistan longer or go there earlier than planned, but five years of war have made fresh troops harder to find.

Faced with a military buildup in Iraq that could drag into next year, Pentagon officials are trying to identify enough units to keep up to 20 brigade combat teams in Iraq. A brigade usually has about 3,500 troops. There is no draft so the Pentagon is trying to figure out a way to get fresh troops. The Republicans are know not to enlist.

Heres my question, I am currently a High School Senior and plan on going to community college for 2 years for my core classes and then go to Virginia Military Institute for my remaining 2 or 4 years. I recently talked to an Army recruited and he says that If I joined the Army Reserves, I would spend the next summer in boot camp and then I would be in the Reserves for 2 years as a MP until VMI picked me up and I would no longer have to be in the Reserves if I no longer wished too. My question is, what do you think the likelihood that I would be deployed during my two years in the Reserves? I would rather not have my College interrupted so I can go into the Army with a college degree and as an Officer.

I see alot of people opposing the idea of african contribution to the Persian forces. I mean correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Egypt (an African country despite the rumors...no really look at a map) one of the many territories that fell to the Persian empire? If so they would have to had picked up people from Egypt to be of some benefit to them right? just a thought.

Is there an online locator or database to locate people currently or formerly enlisted in the Air Force? I have tried a few online searches but have come up with nothing. I exited the Air Force in 2003 so it wasnt too long ago.

Source: USA newspapers. Military members who have been over in Iraq. History of Vietnam. ( Note: What happened to the "WAR WILL BE OVER IN 6 MONTHS") This was told to the USA people in Feb 2003. Slam dunk!! Open Hearts, Open Arms! Then in July 2003 we were told.....The Insurgents are just dead enders. They won't last long. The war in Iraq will be over in 8 months.

Your claim was that military members are not given proper medical treatment. You are either a lyer or a left wing loony trying to stir up hate (same thing)
First, she was x-rayed within 1hr of being admitted to the hospital. Second, No active service member is required to pay out of pocket expenses. Third If she is on full duty by now , she wasn't hurt that bad. Forth, Stateside sailors (unless on shore patrol) are NOT issued body armor. Fifth, has had the same boots for six years??? She is given a yearly uniform allowance, it's HER responsibility to replace them.... Are you REALLy a Navy mom, or just some frustrated military hating ?????

My best friend and I are both really supportive of the Armed Forces. There have been a couple of times when we've met someone who mentions that they're active duty or a veteran, and she's asked if she could kiss them on the cheek! No one has ever said no, but I've tried to tell her that this is inappropriate, and that "thank you" or something like it, with a handshake is enough. Maaaaybe a hug. But a kiss? I dunno, it just seems weird to me. Would you let someone kiss you as a gesture of respect/support/gratitude?

My stepdad thinks he knows it all, so I didn't even begin to argue with him when this topic of conversation came up. My husband is in the Army and is currently in Iraq. {Well, technically he is in Kuwait, he's on his way home for two weeks!!!! HEHE... :) }

Anyway, What do you civilians think about this?

To the soldiers, if someone were to tell you that they are against the war in Iraq but support you, what would you think or feel?

I want that title of a Marine, but the National Guard have so much better benefits and pay. You don't even get a bonus when signing with the Corps. I know they are the most Bad*** out of the bunch, but I can't decide. Which do you think? What are the pros and cons of each?
