IF you join the U.S. Marines and IF you can make it through training, you will become a member of an elite brotherhood. There is no such thing as an EX-Marine. If I have to explain it to you, you wouldn't understand. Being a U.S. Marine (it is ALWAYS spelled with a capital M....but you wouldn't know that) is a proud move that any young man or woman could make. I never really knew any U.S. Marines until my last duty station, USS Nimitz CVN-68 when I got to know a few of our security detachment. I sort of looked up to them before, but since then, they have my utmost respect and honor. I would easily trust my life with a U.S. Marine over anyone in any other branch.
I was honored today, Saturday, March 10, to be part of a group that stood for a fallen U.S. Marine hero at his funeral. I glanced around at my brother and sister Patriot Guard Riders and saw very few eyes that weren't leaking. None of us knew him, his family or friends. But we were all affected by his death.
Your question was WILL I HAVE A LIFE IF I JOIN THE MARINES. Son, you will have more than just a LIFE, you will have A NEW AND HONORABLE LIFE. You will have brothers and sisters, a whole family, where ever there is a U.S. Marine.
One nation under God, with his U.S. Marines standing guard.

Yes you will have a life. Being in the Marines is like having a job that is very strict. All depends on what job you have, the two MOS that has the worst schedules are Infantry and MP. I'm Infantry and I had my nights and weekends off except for when we were in the field. It also depends on your CO too. Some CO's are into training their Marines and they don't allow liberty.

Brother I am 51 years old and there is not a day that goes by that I don't do something or think something that the Marines helped to develop in me. I don't ever regret my time in the Marines. Some of my best memories in my life came from the Marines. I thank God that I was one of the few, the proud the Marines.

Once you're finished with all your training and are assigned to a permanent duty station, yes, you'll have a life. Trust me, even the Marines don't sit in fox holes 24 hours a day, 365 days a week.

Yes. You will.

And by the way... you don't "join" the Marines... you "become" a Marine... with a capital M. When you get to your boot camp graduation day, you will have earned the title... and will always know it's spelled with a capital M.

Yes, you will have a life. The Corps is what you make of it. Depending on the job you get will dictate how much time off and how much you get deployed. If you get a field job, expect to conduct a lot of training. Joining the Corps was one of the best decisions of my life.
