i mean there are department of the army . air force , navy ...
is there a department for the marines ?

Those are the three main departments within the DOD, plus the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Inspector General and the Joint Chiefs of Staff (see chart from link below).

There's no Department of the Marines since the Marines Corps is a part of the Navy. The Coast Guards is also a part of the Navy in times of war but otherwise is a part of the Dept. of Homeland Security (it used to belong to the Dept. of Transportation and before that, the Dept. of Commerce).

The Marine Corps falls under the Department of the Navy. However, the Marine Corps does have a full memeber on the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Coast Guard falls under the Department of Homeland Security. And the National Guard, when fedralized, falls under the Department of the Army.
