I dont think it will just be China and the U.S.
Russia is going through political problems, Iran is a oil Mongrol, Germany is a economic king, there's so much that could happen.
I was reading a interesting article on China. It said that 500 years ago, China was a huge naval power. But somehow in 500 years they stopped being so.
They have a navy but thank god mostly brown water (coastal) navy. But we all know their in a build up. And with all the trouble they have and could cause, we'll eventually be in a stand off or a war.

It's conceivable that China and the US could get into one in the future. Right now there are no nations able to rival the US, but that will probably change in the next 50 years. China certainly works against the US in global politics consistently, and there's issues like Taiwan, North Korea, and Japan that could become flash-points between the two.
But I don't think it's going to happen in the next twenty years.
