During Vietnam, VAs were overwhelmed by influx of WWII and Korean vets coming in because of age, and medical problems. Then got hit by Military pushing in Vietnam vets, some barely weeks out of Vietnam. VA had old technology, was understaffed, under-equiped (not enough beds for paraplegic injuries of Vietnam wounded to turn to prevent bedsores, little physical theraphy, ancient oxygen tanks instead of pipe system, etc.)
Wards were filled with critically ill, when designed for 1/4 critical, actual critical beds were 3/4. Evening and night shifts staffed with one RN and one medical aide.
Little repiratory staff, medical aide did this. Only 2 ambu bags for entire 500 patient facility.
Are things much better now? How long before severly wounded get medical discharges from injury dates.
Friendly houses picking up slack as reported, or too few beds to get all wounded in?
Follow-up care for brain injuries sufficient?

I feel that he is taken us for some fools and I do not know us as the people along with congress is letting him get away with it. I rather have had President (you know who) get away with getting pleasure with a young woman then have this man kill our young people, while the only thing they are thinking about is serving our country. I just don't think it is right. Can someone explain this to me?

am doing some research for a paper so serious answers only please. I would like to know your feelings on Gays in the Military. I would also like to know how you feel about the current policy in place. Now Imagine for a min that you are on the frontlines and all you have is your buddies to your left or right and you are praying that they remeber that last 1st aid class or they got 40 out of 40 on their weapons qualification. At this very moment are you thinking " Are they gay"? Does it really matter to you their sexuality and why. What are your why's and why nots. Also if you can point me in direction of any "credible" resources that discuss this topic let me know. I am researching for a paper and I am not gay but my position is that I feel the current policy protects the homosexuals privacy and sheilds them from any ridicule after all sexual orientation does not affect job performance and we "all" know that "AIDS" is NOT a disease that affects homosexuals only.

Considering leaders of todays world, and yesteryears. I can only commened respect to Alexander the Great. Who through adversity and bravery went and battled wars with his country folks at all occasions.
In retrospect to todays leaders, who I believe shouldnt be called leaders since they do not lead by example. Whatever happened to leaders like Alexander the Great?

Why do people make him out to be great and all when he murded loads of people and made his first wife to take all the blame for it? he framed his wife for murders he commited and people say that she left him as he was working to hard. well she was exicuted if it helps with the facts! People need ot know the truth today of the world. we are being kept secrets which in no froum should be kept to securety levels. If there is some massive nucler wepon which could destry the world then we need to know about it today. if politions wanted to do the best for the people of the world why dont they ask what we want. take up your hands and start asking questions about super wepons. there are some out there. it would be stupid for govements to tell us yes but only in there view. but i think we should know about them. If we are all gonig to kill each other and our govements are going to use wepons of mass distruction. dont you think we should know about it so that we can prep ourselvs for the worst.

I thought Bushs mission was to free Iraq from the tyran Suddam. Now that over 30000 iraqis estimated to have died because of the war in one year. Eliminating Suddam has created factions and instability in Iraq. The originial mission statement declared by Bush was to wage war on countries who harbour terrorists. Bush changed that mission to finding weapons of mass destruction. Both missions were fruitless. Then he declared he wanted to eliminate suddam and free (liberate) the iraqi people. This mission looks like has failed too. The question is, did Suddam bring order to Iraq (was he worth more alive then dead) - keeping in mind estimates of 30000 innocent iraqis from last year alone have been killed due to instability created by Bush?

Also, shoul'nt our military hunt down both sunni ans sh'iite insurgents in Iraq and destroy them? What about Syria? they have a hand in this also. With George Bush' speech I surely thought that finally the U.S. military would get a handle on the terrorists. What about the military buildup in Iraq. Why won't we hit them where it hurts?what happens if we don't stop them? Does'nt anyone realize what will happen to us in the U.S. if we don't stop the terrorists? Also what about the liberal influence on our president and his cabinet? should'nt he stop listening to them? all they want to do is appease the terrorist like Chamberlain did with Hitler in ww2. I fear for our very existence in the future.Won't a real man step up and put a stop to the terrorism before it comes to our shores again? We need a real gung ho military leader like General Macarthur to really get the military going on a path to win in Iraq and put Iran in it's place.Does anyone else agree?

The pervading Anti-American sentiment on Yahoo answers is getting a little tiresome now, don't you think?
Can we revert to type please and continue our debates in an intelligent, balanced and rational way like we have been accustomed to for centuries, instead of rising to the bait offerered by a load of stetson wearing, gun totin', trigger happy, hamburger munching, fat reprobate hillbilly's from across the pond?

Is that alright by you America? Frightfully good of you, old chaps.

My cousin wants to join the Army, he has a GED. I heard you get less benefits if you get in with just a GED, what are the benefits that he won't have??

He's joining as a 88m, i know a friend who recently signed up for that MOS and he got a $8k bonus, the only thing i assume is that they probably won't give my cousin a bonus.
