what will happen if China attacks after Taiwan declares formal independence? how will the US and Japan react to a war with China? remember Bush, whose father was ambassador to China, has vowed to defend Taiwan whatever means necessary. US policy is defend Taiwan which could mean war with China and Russia. Russia has agreed to help China in case of US attack on the Chinese mainland. It will be World War 3.

Army unit are talking about deleting per diem for soldiers. Statement is that it is "costing too much money" but yet have not provided on base housing for reservist/Natl Guard for the mobilization. Of course it would be more costly putting soldiers up in hotels. Duh!

My son is having his 7th birthday party and has choosen the camo/military theme. We were talking and thought it would be a neat idea to have the kids at the party draw a picture and write a little thank you note and send them to some American troops fighting in Iraq. I thought that was the sweetest thing for my son to think of and would like to do that. I just dont know anyone personally over sees.. I guess I am lucky in that case.. but I still support our troops. Does anyone know anyone over sees that you think would like a kid to send them a little thanks or know of where I can find addresses or whatever... Does doing this require extra postage? Do you have to send a letter through customs or anything to do this? Thanks!!

I'm interested in two things. What was in their field pack? What rules were enforced about hanging on to battle souvineirs like German lugers and Hitler Youth Knives? Or if you wanted a machete and were not specifically assigned one could you carry a personal one? Stuff like that.
