The SAS and the SBS are the 2 best special forces units on earth. The americans are good but not anywhere near as good as the British. As far as doing the job quickly and quietly thats what the SAS and SBS do. Fighting a war with a knife and not much else is part of the training. They even torture recruits to toughen them up to keep quiet if captured. They answer to no-one bar there SAS superiors, can act without the permission of the MOD, have many battle honours, have won a war ( N.Ireland ) which is just like Israel, are the basis for every special forces unit on earth to devise there training. They have the greatest Embassy seige rescue under there belt in the Iranian Emabssy seige in london, where declared the best soldiers of the first gulf war by the American General in charge over their and are not disrespected by attempts to turn them in gods by constant video games and movies.

THE SAS ARE THE WORLDS GREATEST FULL STOP!

SAS, Delta Force and SEAL Team 6 are all top notch. Israel has some great Special Forces too, but I don't know anything about them.

id say SAS themselves are the most elite fighting force for strategic roles say destroying or disrupting key areas of the enemy without being noticed or messing up but the navy seals if u wanna finish the job up ruthlessly but professionaly u send in the seals but SAS they got my money

There is no right or wrong answer......you're only going to get opinions here, no facts. Take a guy from every special forces branch and they're all going to think they do something better than the others. In "elite" you need to clarify what your definition of it is.

the sas rocks!!! my grand father was in the sas during world war two and when he died, he left me with all of his stuff. but the greatest thing was his medals which i will never part with. i was in the parachute regiment for a year and attended sas selection and faild. it is the hardest selection process known to man. the regiments history is fantastic and every year i attend the rememberance day in hereford which is huge. the sas can do anything. they are better than any fighting force in the world and are a credit to our country.

USMC Force Recon is the most elite fighting force in the world. SAS are like Navy SeALs, good at a very specialized job. When it comes to killing people and breaking things quickly and quietly, the Force Recon is unparalelled. We are snipers/scouts, demolition experts, HRT/CQB warriors who can deploy anywhere on the face of the earth at a moments notice. If you're looking for HRT specialists or an infiltration unit then you'd go with SAS or SeALs for this is what they were truly designed for. But if you want killing done then call on us.

Maybe. It's between British SAS, US Delta Force & Israeli Sayeret Matkal.

Because they are expendable and put into very dangerous situations. Its about the group not the individual. A lot of them get killed.

I would say no.

I'm gonna got out on a limb and pick a group that has recently won a war, and that's Hezbollah.

They made Israel quit so why not put them into consideration?

The SAS hasn't won anything; the Navy Seals hasn't either.

When they start winning again, I'll put them back on my radar!
