Why should we invade China? We can protect Taiwan from being invaded and conquered simply by blocking the strait of Taiwan.

And Russia has no defense treaty with China. Not only that there would be no benefit to Russia in getting involved in a US/Taiwan/Japan/Australia vs. China conflict.

Nuclear weapons are not going to be used because we have missile defenses and the ability to turn China into a wasteland - and they know it.

The U.S. must have valid reasons to involve itself in the China-Taiwan issue. Going back in history, Taiwan was indeed a province of China. So China have the sovereign right over Taiwan. In fact, the United Nations does not include Taiwan among its member nations in recognition of this fact. Taiwan is no different in its treatment than Hongkong, which was officially returned to China's sovereignty in 1997 after being a British colony since 1842. So Taiwan officially remain a Chinese province unless it is granted a formal independence by China.

Any foreign intervention on behalf of Taiwan in this issue is clearly an affront on China.

over the final decade, a number of novelists have taken in this question. of direction, in those memories, the U.S. initially the sufferer of treachery yet interior the tip "sturdy" triumphs over "evil" and China is humiliated. unquestionably, the priority is phenomenally puzzling. As different writers right here have stated, China holds such an huge quantity of U.S. debt that a actual invasion of Taiwan is very almost pointless. to boot the action may be destabilizing interior China itself, that's riven with social, political and fiscal stresses. additionally, Japan and different significant international locations interior the area might properly react in techniques China might immediately remorseful approximately. U.S. coverage does value Taiwan, notwithstanding dismissive comments have been made already. American investment in Taiwan is enormous. The island is an significant strategic area. Taiwanese production is significant to American pastimes and the international economy. those and different motives may be sufficient for the U.S. to return to assistance from Taiwan. regrettably, U.S. militia engagement - a minimum of under recent situations - may be a great deal constrained, and that's not likely that the U.S. might dare threat a service group or 2 to circulate head-to-head with China. the threat of an escalating nuclear conflict, too, is terrifyingly genuine. American forces actual eye-catching in land wrestle on the chinese language mainland is an impossible concept - "on no account get right into a land conflict in Asia" is a truism. All of those ruminations element in the direction of a constrained U.S. involvement aimed in the direction of protecting Taiwan and displacing any invasion forces, somewhat than assaulting China in reaction. on the 2d, the U.S. is in all probability unable to even doing that. militia forces are over-stretched, militia factors and kit are over-dedicated, and the U.S. funds for the army is strained previous help. As a broader coverage count number, whilst protection of Taiwan for sensible and ethical motives is probably justifiable, the present coverage of U.S. willingness to make conflict is an entire reversal of maximum national traditions and ethics. till and except the U.S. gets out of its center East engagements - truly in Iraq - and reconstitutes the protection business enterprise, there is not any conceivable ethical justification for ANY American militia action interior the international, and no capacity to undertake it.

US, invade China? Don't make me laugh. They can't even pacify Iraq when fighting against a bunch poorly trained militia men armed with nothing but AK-47s, RPG 7s and some semtex! How the hell would you expect this army to invade a country with an army 3 or 4 times larger and the technology to back that army up????

You'll see missiles flying before it comes to a ground invasion, and even then the U.S. Taiwan, and Japan will be the losers. The Chi-coms ceded 50 times that much land to Russia as part of the SCO, and will only use Taiwan as a pretext for war with the U.S.

Don't forget that China isn't like Afghanistan or Irak. It has enough weapon to strike back ( missiles, troops, WMD vehicules ). So taking such a big enemy would be at your loss I think, because getting close enough to the shore will be more difficult than invading the 2 countries I named before.

That is so funny. Please Bush can't even handle Iraq. He lost the respect of the middle east and the little countries who are the allies in Iraq just hoping to get a cut of the oil revenue. The U.S. will do nothing. China and Russia are too big to fight. They have real WMD's lets not forget that.

Do you see Bush doing anything about North Korea??

Invade China, lol! And then the Chinese government will destroy the American economy by calling in all the U.S. Chinese debt, before they advance with their army of millions that totally outnumbers our own. Good luck with that scenario.
