I personally believe it is un-winnable because it is a gurilla war where the combatents look the same as the general population, make hit and run raids then dis-appear into the crowd. Can you say Vietnam? You must know who you enemy is.

I also believe we have so many lives invested now, it would be a dis-honor(to the dead) to cut and run. This is probably the same thinking that kept us in 'Nam for so long, but that was a political war. The people on the front weren't making real time decisions. It was being made from 4,000 miles away in the white house. We wanted to win, weren't allowed, I am now dis-allusioned and frustrated and don't care anymore. Now my focus is getting my butt on a freebird and back to the world.

Probably for the most part, the people over there now are accomplishing something and should be proud. They may not change the world climate, but on a personal level maybe they changed the heart and mind of 1 person, or was involved in something that changed their perspective in a positive way.

This will probably draw criticism from liberals, but that's my opinion. As a matter of fact, I am a republican. This has nothing to do with it. I am an AMERICAN first. you should be too. Do not follow anyone blindly.
I say, that the way they are fighting and killing off one another, let them beat each other down, then we come in a clean up the winner if needed.

If I were president and they are running their mouths declaring Jehod or whatever on me, I'd make sure they had several days of highs in the 4,500 degree range. I wouldn't mess with them.

I believe the U.S. will appear to have been successful and that Bush will start withdrawing troops within 6 mos prior to getting out of office. However, I have to say no to success in the long run as I firmly believe that, within 20 years, Iraq's government will either be taken down in a coup or a civil war. Unless there is a request by their government for intervention once more by the U.S. which, of course, we will most likely jump at the chance.

As much as our government wants a democratic society over in the middle East, it cannot expect to change an entire way of life, religion and philosophy in a mere decade. It would take the new parents of today to begin teaching our ideologies to their young. And for that generation to grow and teach it to their young and, even then, there would have to be a majority willing to adopt our way of thinking, living and governing.

Personally, I pray the Iraqi govenment hangs in there and makes it better for their people. The world doesn't need any more Atilla the Huns, Hitlers or Saddam Husseins.

From a statistical point of view, the U.S. is winning in Iraq and losing in France. In Iraq the death rate was 5.3 per 1,000 so about 143,000 Iraqs died from all causes last year and over 840,000 Iraqis were born in 2006. In France, the death rate was 10.6 deaths per 1,000 people and France has a negative birth rate. It looks like France is in worse shape than Iraq and that Arabic is the true language of love (Arabs even look like hippies)! I think the U.S. will start to pull out in 2008. There are 18 providences in Iraq. 5 are troublesome and three have been handed back to Iraq's government already. I read that the Bush Administration plans to have handed back all the providences by the end of the first quarter of 2008.

They should have trained 5 times as many police as the Bush administration wanted. That would have decreased the unemployment and put the hold in clear and hold.

No, I don't, I never did.

Part of the problem is that we Americans got a lot of fear tactics thrown at us constantly for 6 years.

I came to think of this as "All Terror All The Time". Sort of a regularly scheduled show.

I got currious about the terrorist attacks that have happend on our soil, reduced that to just those from other lands, and I came up with two. I believe something like 8 years apart.

I then looked at the statistics for places like Ireland, the UK, Japan, Spain, Paris, Egypt, and last but not least Israel.

Without a doubt we got sloppy, we let our agencies starve for new blood and fresh minds. We failed to fund, then we failed to respect, and then under Bush we failed to listen to our intelligence agencies.

Some were fired, many quit. The FBI still can't quite grasp this computer system.

We need to stop Nation building and fix OUR Sagging Nation.

Katrina to me should be named a day of National Shame and Disgrace. We really need to mind our own business.

Urgently.
