Is there some kind of rule or guidelines? Or how often do people actually get deployed throughout their career?

There are currently a large number of soldiers still in Germany. Is there still a reason for this to happen? A Brigade will shortly be moving from Germany to the UK but this still leaves three Brigades in Germany. What are our troops still doing there?

He has already served in the Marine Corps. for 4 years (we were not dating at the time so this is all new to me) and he has just re-enlisted. I want to get him something that he will really appreciate, but something unique. Ideas from everyone, but especially service men would be greatly appreciated.

I truly don't understand this. Why didn't we just invade the north. There is no way that they could have halted an organized assault on their capital.

What gives?

I have a son in the military and it seems like something is always breaking down and then they are stranded a week or two somewhere waiting for a part.

Has anyone else wondered why are we sending more troops when the equipment that we have is so shitty, that it could kill them before they even get where they are supposed to fight.

An alliance that really should be undefeatable is having trouble taking over and controlling a developing country of low wealth and organisation! With britains experience as a former empire built on invasion and Americas fire power the two together should be invincible. So why are they finding it hard in Iraq!!!

Little is mentioned re: China and their military...especially with what's going on in the Middle East.

Is this China's way of letting US know....they're still "in the game"?

Who benefits from this War? How is the money being spent helping our country to remain safe from terrorist? Are we not making the future terrorist justified by killing civilians and evading these small nations? Instead we should be using small air supported, well armed covert strike units against the true enemies of America.

Can/could a battleship with large main guns (12-18") possibly fire all guns at once? Even if possible, wouldn't this cause severe damage to either the ship itself or the turrets? Strictly hypothetic question, as I know of no such instance or even a reason to do so.
