Why did more than half of the people answer SEALs when the SEALs are a unit in the NAVY? The question was directed towards ARMY units. If he would have said Military, then you could answer SEALs.

The toughest and most rigorous training in the ARMY are Spec Ops units, which include Ranger Units.

Delta is not even an official branch of the ARMY thus it cannot be considered to have the toughest training in the Army. As I understand it, you have to be the best of the best in a Spec Ops unit already and then you might be recruited by Delta - there is no application process. You don't make Delta unless you've been in for quite some time and I don't think they take anyone under an E-5.

I was also under the impression that Delta took anyone they wanted from any branch in the Military, including SEALs, Rangers, Combat Controllers, and the new Marine unit that will join SOCom.

By the way, The Marine Corp Basic Rifle Marksmanship course is not nearly as rigorous as Ranger marksmanship requirements. They may shoot at the same distance (500 m) with the M-16A2 (or M4), but they are no where near as proficient as Rangers with multiple weapon systems.

Infantry units are the most vigorously trained soldiers. This includes Marines, Army Infantry (Special Forces, Ranger and Airborne), Navy Seals and a few Air Force Commando units. All of the training for these units are physically demanding to the MAX and are very similar in time and toughness of the courses. There is an old saying in the Army, "If you're not in the Infantry, you are not in the war". With few exceptions, it is fact.

Delta Force has the toughest and most rigourous training. Then I would say that the Special Operations Command (Rangers, Special Forces, etc...) have the toughest is the ARMY.

No. In my opinion, the training for the French Foreign Legion makes regular Army basic training look like a boy scout camporee. Then again, US Army RANGER schools makes basic training look tame by comparison as well, as does SEAL training and Special Forces training.

The Marine Corps beats the Army, in terms of training. Marine Recruits do not graduate from boot camp unless they pass the firing range requirements... which at the USMC Basic level either meet or exceed those of Army Ranger Training.

NONE. It takes team work. No unit can survive in combat on its own, it takes more than that. For example, if you're an infantry, you need air support, you need artillery support, you need supply and logistics to sustain your everyday living, you need everybody's help. As far as training itself, the Rangers.

Probably either the Seals or Marines. I know that the Seals go through 8 weeks of Navy basic, plus 16 additional weeks of Seal training.
