it depends on why you want to locate him... if he was injured,, you can go to the branch of service he is in,,, and look on their data bank of soliders injured,,,,
the dept. of defense also maintains a dailey record of injured soliders... now you must keep in mind that none of theses will be posted untill the next of kin has been contacted... ..

there is a massive amount of information available on the dept. of defense website..

If you know what branch he was in, try talking to a recruiter. They may have an idea for you. Red Cross usually only helps family members. Try www.anysoldier.com they have a help link to answer questions. Maybe they could help you get started. That sight was started by a soldier. No harm in trying.

Unless you are family, the privacy act will put you aginst a stone wall. Contact his family.

It depends on the branch, but generally if you know their first and last name, you can email them. I don't know how it works if they have a common name like john.doe@usmc.mil
Like my husbands is:
first.last@usmc.mil
When he's in Iraq it changes...
Army:
first.last@us.army.mil
I don't know about the navy, but I would guess it's first.last@us.navy.mil

Good luck!

Contact his family. Otherwise security and privacy considerations will prevent anybody from telling you anything.
