Marine recon is a small unit similar to Rangers.
The US Army is a larger organization. If you're asking who is more powerful, Recon or an Army Tank Company, I have to say the tanks (Although, I'm sure there are Marines out there who would disagree, hooah!).

The Army would win by sheer numbers, but as far as better troops/training, Marine Recon are the special forces for the Marines, they are similar to Army Rangers and Green Berets.

Your comparing apples to oranges.
When you say US Army, you need to be more specific, a regular infantry squad, rangers, special forces, delta .
Each unit has a different mission, that's why we have different unit types.
If your wanting to compare a Marine Force Recon unit to a regular Army Infantry Squad, then the Marine Force Recon unit would be more powerful.
The Marine Force Recon unit would be more highly trained and have older more experienced members.
Such comparisons are really meaningless.
