Most Marines have an extreme pride for their Corps. So buying him something of the relation to the Marines is usually a good gift to any Marine. You could go to a military supply store and have a look around, asking the counter person questions. But I don't know your boyfriend, so I wouldn't know what kind of things would interest him. Just a suggestion. My father (former Marine) has been wanting a K-Bar with an EGA engrained on the sheath for a long time. So you may just want to ask him casually about it if you don't want to sound suspicious.

That is a difficult question to answer. You see, having served two tours as a Navy Hospital Corpsman with the Marines, the one thing I can tell you is that Marines are as different from each other as are workers at Ford and GM.
Some Marines for example like hip hop, some like reggae (Shaggy was or according to some is a Marine ... once a Marine always a Marine), others enjoy Alan Jackson and some like Jimmy Buffet.
The point is this, if you want to give your boyfriend a present, then it is not a good idea to give him a present that you think other people think a Marine would like. The best thing you can do is to give him something that reminds him of you, if he really cares about you and is going into harms way, a little reminder of your kindness will help him make it through the most difficult days.
Just take your time and you will come up with the right answer.

Get married and you might have the benefits you are asking for. The baby will be covered under Tricare Insurance after a DNA test is done after the baby is born to prove paternity. If you get married and his name is on the birth certificate you and the baby will be covered by the insurance and a DNA test will not be needed to put the baby on his Page 2 as a dependent. As far as emergency leave, maybe maybe not. It depends on his chain of command, but there are thousands of babies born to military families every year without the father being present. Being his wife will make that more probably than just being his girl friend. I don't want to seem mean, but I have been a female on active duty a long time and have seen some bad cases when it comes to the girlfirends in situations like this. If you have ever talked marriage, I suggest you get married to cover everyone. Baby's are very expensive to have and to take care of. With the military medical insurance you don't pay a dime for anything.

My hubby re-enlisted twice whilst we was married [he had already done a few prior to meeting me] they get a REALLY nice certificate, so maybe a special type of frame or get it framed for him, for instance I found my husbands shoved in a box........
Other than that from what I have seen there is nothing that they usually get or expect from wives / family etc. Lovely thought from you but maybe not really needed.........was you allowed to go to the service? If so then you might have got a great picture or two and again get that framed.
Not sure what rank he is but I would start saving for those times, its great to buy some of those little bits when he reaches certain levels of rank, the guys think they are cheesy BUT secretly they love them lol lol
Regards

Go to http://www.sgtgrit.com/ . They have GREAT USMC items. You can also request that they send you a catalog in the mail. Also, sign up for their news letter, and when you get it in your email, have a box of tissues standing by. Lots of touching letters in the news letter from folks.
Be proud of your US Marine!
"ON THE 7TH DAY, GOD RESTED AND THE US MARINES FILLED SAND BAGS" "ONE NATION UNDER GOD WITH HIS US MARINES STANDING GUARD". A USMC sniper says, "YOU CAN RUN, BUT YOU'LL JUST DIE TIRED."
How the different branches of the U.S. Military 'secures' a building:
US Navt: Turns off all the lights and locks the door.
US Army: Posts guards around the building.
US Air Force: Leases the building with a 5 year contract and an option to buy.
US Marines: Storms the building, kills everyone inside and sets it up as a command post.

If your boyfriend doesn't mind wearing jewelry, then one idea might be a service ring. They look similar to class rings, but have the symbols associated with the specific branch of the armed forces (i.e. eagle, globe & anchor for Marines).

A journal or something that you made, like a knit scarf, hat, or a throw blanket which shows a lot of thought and time. Any gift from the heart is the best, will show you support him and he will know you did it just for him.
Best wishes!

The thing my hubby liked was that I threw a party for him and all his friends. Marines love to party especially when the beer is free. It also build their brother-hood. 20 year military spouse.

Give him a picture of you that he can look at and show off. Send him a new picture every 3 months, as he may wear out the one he has, and write or email him often. Other than that, ask him or his buddies in the service what would be good. (Don't give him an X rated photo, his friends will steal it.) Tell him thanks for serving for me, will you please! God Bless.

I don't know about your bf, but if it were my husband I would get him some awesome CD's, maybe you can buy him some accessories to his cell or iPod. I agree with the picture frame, that would be a nice gift. Maybe a subscription to a magazine he likes?
