Just interested to know...

I know that if I was serving, and was reading some of the comments on this site - by Republicans and Democrats, you're all as bad as each other - I'd be thinking "What am I doing here, laying my life on the line for these morons?" It would really demoralise me.

Still, I'm sure that US troops are made of sterner stuff than I.

Well, if you read this, good luck and get home safely.

My boyfriend, who lives in Florida and is 21 yrs old, just told me that he gets chosen for the military...as far as i know there hasn't been any military drafting for the past 3 decades and how come he's "chosen"? He told me there are 20 of them (the ones who're chosen) and the only way to refuse is by medical proof. I've heard there's been shortage of US soldiers but is it true that they're making people to get into the army by this method? I'm really worried because i REALLY don't want him to get into the army and neither does he. Anyone from the states or Florida please give me some idea ASAP because he's saying he'll need to leave on Wednesday :(

When soldiers are on deployment they are serving us. I help through soldiersangels.org, sending letters and care packages, but I think when they return it is our responsibility , our turn to serve them, I feel like we're failing them, the adjustment must be brutal, any ideas?

if you feel you have the evidence to back it?

I deleated this question once, because after re-reading it, I felt that a clever person could figure out more than I wished them to. So, just the bare bones of the question... Submit the report or submit to BOHICA?

families live without power, and other services. The US military took over this palace soon after they invaded and have been there since. This palace, as well as about 70 other palaces belong to the Iraqi people, and would be better served by providing housing for some of Iraq's most desperate people. The Green Zone palace has clean running water, air conditioning, pools, and other amenities, things some Iraqis only dream of.
No wonder they want the US Out. Amongst other things, the Iraqis look at us as though we are common thieves.

I found this on the MSN homepage. This is a sad day in America when the death toll of this war has reached this amount.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14959937/

The story below:

WASHINGTON - Now the death toll is 9/11 times two.

U.S. military deaths from Iraq and Afghanistan now surpass those of the most devastating terrorist attack in America’s history, the trigger for what came next.

The latest milestone for a country at war came Friday without commemoration. It came without the precision of knowing who was the 2,974th to die in conflict. The terrorist attacks killed 2,973 victims in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.

An Associated Press count of the U.S. death toll in Iraq rose to 2,696. Combined with 278 U.S. deaths in and around Afghanistan, the 9/11 toll was reached, then topped, the same day. The Pentagon reported Friday the latest death from Iraq, an as-yet unidentified soldier killed a day earlier after his vehicle was hit by a roadside bombing in eastern Baghdad...

we're told the US has been building and re-buildng schools and hospitals in Iraq since "mission accomplished" Yet I can't find a single site nor have I seen any documentary, news programming, special, etc where there is proof of these new facilities. Nor have I seen any stories, or coverage in any magazines such as New Yorker, Newsweek, Time, U.S.News and World Report, etc. which one would think would have at least an article or two about these issues.I mean, its somethng for them to be proud of isn't it. So. Where can I find some pictures?

Specifically, my ROTC unit needs 2 of one of the following rifles (and not a mix and match): Springfield 1903, Springfield M1 Garand, or the M14. They must be made of wood. Resin and plastic are useless and look horrible. I would really appreciate links to the sites.

My fiance is @ boot camp right now for the marines. I keep hearing a ton of negative things at work and from friends about marines and how they beat their wifes and are just basically awful. I guess its probably just hearing so much negative and little positive it makes you nervous. I want to know how much you changed if you're a marine or also to wifes, fiances, and girlfriends who were there before and after boot camp. How much was different?
