Military - September 2006

I was in the Navy at the time, and I distinctly remember a good number of people - officers and enlisted alike - making disrespectful comments about him.

I'm wondering how military members can hold George W. Bush in such reverence, and the only thing I can think of is that people tend to support the Commander in Chief that they voted for.

Do you think there's any validity to that conclusion? If not, what would you attribute it to? It can't really be his prosecution of the war on terror, can it? And it appears to me that he has figuratively defecated on Veteran's Benefits, especially disabled ones.

So why respect him and not Clinton?

Why does the Army have it that you enlist as 11B..And now even 11X..Where you have no say..You could end up a rifle man anywhere to a mortarman..But the Marines have it to wear you can sign up for specific MOS's?(Rifleman,MachineGunner, Assaultman..Ect..)

Ok, I consider chatting online with girls is cheating. How common is it for deployed husbands, or wives in the military to cheat this way? Why? How do I trust him for the rest of his deploymnet which is about 10 more months, so yeah, he started right away pretty much. He says he is so sorry and begs me not to leave him. I don't know what to do. I am miserable and in pain.

According to a poll conducted by the Program on International Policy Attitudes (PIPA) of the University of Maryland on 9/1-4/06:

78% of Iraqi civilians said that the U.S. Military presence is not a stabilizing force in their country.

What is your view ?

My brother is graduating from Basic in November. Is it customary to dress-up or go casual to an Army graduation? I just needed to know so I won't go in jeans when it is expected that you wear something dressy. Thanks

I'm 21female in the air force. We got married before my basic so he could come with me after. He's a civilian. He gets stressed with my schedule. Sometimes I work swing shift which is from 3pm- 1am (usually) so I hardly see him sometimes.

Do marriages that start before the military usually last? My flisht chiefs (master sgt and above kept telling me not to complain about scheduling when i first got to my base because marriges dont last) I've been in for 16 months. I'm going on my first deployment in a few months.

To stay or go? Its the same question that America faced in Vietnam. Eventually they chose to go, but the cost of staying that long was enormous. I am really keen to hear peoples views on this because this is surely a decision that MUST be taken within the next 6-12 months. I cannot see the American public living with a rising death toll of its own soldiers, never mind the huge financial cost. And leaving moderate I raquis to live under another dictatorial state, would that be fair?

But, on the other hand, what is the cost of handing the terriroists a victory, for that is undoubtedly what they will claim. It will embolden them to do the same in other areas and will probably encourage them to attack American and other Western interests.

Hoo boy! What a mess. Any solutions out there?....anybody???

I want to organize a care package delivery to soldiers. I need to know of sites with addresses to send the care packages to. My youth leader said there are websites with addresses that soldiers have placed there to be sent care packages. I tried googling it and only got sites for romantic correspondence with soldiers, which I am not interested in. Any help you could give me would be welcome. Thanks.

Please specify caliber of the bullets you quote, type (lead slug, full metal jacket, hollow point etc.), and which buyer, since I assume the police force and the army gets a better price per bullet than a walmart shopper! Also, please specify your country - I'm in Australia :)

I heard that American Soldiers are not allowed to speak about political matters, endorse politicians and military units cannot endorse or recommend a political canidate. Is that true? if so, why?
Also, I heard American Soldiers may not be involved in political matters in the off time either.

ok so my hubby might be getting out of the army earlier than we planned like say almost 8 yrs earlier. My problem is that he's ready to get out and move on as a civilian ,, I however am completely freaked out. I don't want to give up the Military life, I don't want to be just another working stiffs wife,, I like having something to feel passionate about,, something to be proud of,, a group to belong too. I like living on post,, I like crying with pride when the National Anthem plays becuase I KNOW what it means. I am not ready to do give any of it up.

He might be getting out becuase of some trouble he is in,, am I completely shallow if I want to leave him becuase he's getting out?

Please don't be mean,, and ugly,, my hubby and I are ok, but the trouble he got into is not like him and there's alot about him that has changed over the past year or so. Anyone???

What is wrong with the war supporters? Why are they smiling everytime I ask about the deaths? I ask a war supporter/Republican about the men and women being killed and they respond by saying "Ohhhh Yeeees!!! They died. They are dying for my freedom.....now hush up and let me watch my soaps". Why do the war supporters not care?
