all military contracts are eight years long. Currently the Air Force requires that at least three of those years be on Active Duty. the Navy has something called NCS: National Call to Service. You serve 15 months Active duty (beginning once all of your training is completed,) then 24 months in the Reserves.

When I last was checking into enlisting in the service, the only branch that was willing to offer a two year contract was the US ARMY. The US Air FORCE offered a 4 year, and the US NAVY offered a 3 year contract. It is best to contact a recruiter in your area and talk to them, preferably with a parent.

All enlistments come with an 8 year commitment. This 8 years are served in a number of ways.
The Airforce Requires an initial enlistment of 4 or 6 years with the remaining years served in IRR (individual ready reserve). If you complete 8 years of active duty, or a combination of active duty and reserve or national guard duty your commitment is completed.
Continue on until retirement and you are committed as long as you draw a check!

particular, the Air rigidity does have "national call to service " enlistments , however the critically shrink the style of human beings, who can enlist under this methodology. The Air rigidity averages under 4 hundred national call to service enlistments a 300 and sixty 5 days. so they're next to impossible to easily get. you will oftentimes not get to compliment your job, the AF will inform you what you will do. oftentimes it quite is jobs without Tech college or an rather short Tech college.

Certain Career fields you can have 18 month enlistment. the 18m start after all of your training is done but you don't get all the benefits of a full enlistment!
