Military - September 2006

Here's what I do know. Let's go back a few years. In 1969 I was in the military and was told " We will never leave Vietnam, We will stay the course". I was still in the military on that April 75 day when the USA military ran like scared dogs away from Vietnam. We lost. Now fast forward to 2005 and 2006. The President says " We will never leave Iraq, We will stay the course". I ask all you people this..." Any bets on what day the military will "again" run like scared dogs like we did on 29th April 75?" Say what you want but "we" ( The United States) will lose the war in Iraq. OH!! By the way. CNN just reported the new Iraqi Government wants "Islam" to be part of the new Iraqi Government. How about that. Isn't that something. Way to go warmongers!! The Iraqi people also said they believe it's ok to attack and kill American troops. ( 60% all for killing Americans )

No matter what MOS a Marine/Soldier has, do they all fight in the front lines? Or is it only the ones who pick a Combat job?

For example, if their MOS is mechanic, will they just go to Iraq to just be a mechanic, or will they also get involved in the fighting like Infantry?

Most people say Marines are all about fighting and then the MOS, then why is there an Infantry unit if they are all fighting in the front lines?

A buncha goatherds kicking the rear ends of the best-equipped [yeah, right] Army/Marines in the history of the world. All I can say is "Shame is coming very soon". Shame and tears all because some of these intellectual warmongers believe in a war that can't be won. The war supporters will soon be eating crow when the USA loses the illegal war in Iraq. Defeat is coming and get ready ( War supporters) to walk the "Walk of abject shame".

"Uncle Sam"--Will he Be Pointing that Finger Again?
Will the U.S. soon need to activate Selective Service System plans for a military draft if open hostilities break out with Iran and Syria?Reports surfacing about Army troops & Marines experiencing significant post-traumatic stress disorder & other psychological & emotional difficulties being sent back to Iraq for repeated tours of combat duty. So many US troops have been killed. Thousands more have been wounded so severely they are unable to return to duty.
According to reports, many young men and women do not wish to join the Army at this time. Military service can include many positive experiences: Fellowship, honor, respect, courage, teamwork, duty to country, learning about people from other backgrounds, sacrifice etrc. but there is a dark side to military life. The killing and destroying. It can bring out the worst in i people. It can be dehumanizing. It can lead to many negative results.

Who wants to go?

My son wishes to be a soldier from the Viet Nam era, 173rd Airborne for Halloween - in honor of the soldiers killed that are mentioned in the Big & Rich song, The 8th of November. He is serious about this, not doing it to mock anyone, but as a tribute. (he's a pretty serious little guy) I would see to it that his insignia is correct, etc. I would like to know if there would be any way to make sure no one is offended by this? It's intended as a tribute, nothing else. Both of his great-uncles served in Viet Nam in the Air Force & his cousin is currently in the Marines - so he takes this pretty seriously. Any suggestions - & please don't be ugly . . . I'm asking nicely. Thnks -
